What to Do If the Container House Is Too Hot

Admin September 17, 2026

The issue of a container house being too hot can be addressed through physical cooling methods, personal protection, ventilation treatment, material selection, and insulation design.

Physical Cooling

  • Thermal Insulation Wrapping: Wrap the iron sheet of the container with thermal insulation materials, akin to putting 'sunscreen clothing' on the container, to reduce heat absorption from direct sunlight.
  • Wall Filling: Fill the walls with over 50mm of Class A rock wool. Rock wool has excellent thermal insulation properties and can cut off heat conduction from the metal exterior walls, lowering the indoor temperature.
  • Roof Treatment: The roof is the part that receives the most heat under direct sunlight. An elevated ventilation layer or thicker insulation can be installed. The elevated ventilation layer promotes air circulation and carries away heat, while thicker insulation reduces heat transfer to the interior.
  • Door and Window Improvements: Use broken-bridge aluminum double-glazed doors and windows. These doors and windows can effectively reduce radiant heat entry and improve their thermal insulation performance.
  • Equipment Assistance: If possible, install industrial air coolers, which have an immediate cooling effect. Alternatively, the refrigeration units from refrigerated containers can be removed and retrofitted onto the mobile house, providing both insulation and mobility. Additionally, installing sunshades and external corridor awnings can also reduce direct sunlight exposure.

Personal Protection

Use personal protective equipment such as cooling vests and ice sleeves. These items can lower the body's perceived temperature by 5 - 8 degrees Celsius, providing some relief from the heat.

Ventilation Treatment

Reserve dedicated ventilation channels to ensure smooth air circulation. At the same time, set up air-conditioned rest pavilions to provide a cool resting environment for personnel. Personnel must be rotated every 2 hours to avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures. It should be noted that a confined space can become oxygen-deprived within 4 - 5 hours, so ventilation should not be just a small opening; ensure good ventilation effects.

Material Selection

Avoid using low-cost thin color-coated steel + benzene board containers. These materials have poor thermal insulation properties in high-temperature environments. For example, in summer in Wuhan, the indoor temperature can exceed 40 degrees Celsius.

Insulation Design

Through scientific insulation design and standardized construction renovations, build a three-dimensional insulation system that 'blocks heat conduction + seals for thermal insulation + incorporates energy-saving features'. This reduces heat transfer from the source, achieving warmth in winter and coolness in summer. After qualified insulation renovations, the indoor temperature in summer can be 8 - 12 degrees Celsius lower than the outdoor temperature, eliminating the need for frequent air conditioner use.
