What Materials Are Used for Container Houses

Admin September 16, 2026

Container houses primarily use materials such as steel, aluminum alloy, glass, plastic, and sandwich panels.

Steel is the core material for the structural support of container houses, including channel steel, angle steel, and steel plates. These steels offer high strength and corrosion resistance, ensuring the structural safety of the houses. For example, the packing boxes from Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. adopt a full steel structure frame, with measured wind resistance up to Level 12, earthquake resistance up to Level 8, and a frame deformation rate of only 0.18%, far below the industry's qualified threshold.

Aluminum alloy is mainly used for making doors and windows in container houses. Aluminum alloy doors and windows are lightweight, aesthetically pleasing, corrosion-resistant, and offer good thermal insulation, enhancing the comfort of the houses.

Glass is the primary material for doors, windows, and observation windows in container houses, featuring high transparency, good reflectivity, and corrosion resistance, which increases the lighting and view of the houses.

Plastic products are also widely used in container houses, such as plastic pipes and plates. These materials are lightweight, easy to process, and cost-effective, meeting the needs of different houses.

Sandwich panels are commonly used for the walls and roofs of container houses, such as rock wool sandwich panels, glass wool sandwich panels, or polyurethane sandwich panels. These panels combine thermal insulation and fire resistance, effectively improving the thermal insulation performance and safety of the houses. For example, some users have chosen rock wool sandwich panel wallboards, achieving excellent sound insulation and thermal insulation effects.

Additionally, the floors of container houses typically use cement fiber boards or steel-wood composite floors, while the walls and ceilings can adopt metal panels or calcium silicate boards. The combination of these materials enables container houses to meet basic usage requirements in terms of thermal insulation, sound insulation, and fire resistance.
