What is the Size of a House Container?

Admin September 17, 2026

House containers come in a variety of sizes. The common standard single-container size is 6 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and generally between 2.7 and 2.8 meters in height, with an area of approximately 18 square meters.

Standard Single-Container Size

The most common house container is the standard single container, typically 6 meters long, 3 meters wide, and between 2.7 and 2.8 meters high. This size of container house has an internal area of about 18 square meters, meeting basic living or office needs. Its design takes into account both space utilization and structural stability, making it suitable for various scenarios such as temporary housing, construction site offices, and shops.

Small Container House Size

In addition to standard sizes, there are more compact small container houses, commonly measuring 3 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and with a height similar to that of standard containers. These container houses have an internal area of about 9 square meters. Due to their limited space, they are mostly used in scenarios with low area requirements, such as guard posts, temporary warehouses, or small tool rooms. Their advantages include a small footprint, convenient transportation, and relatively low cost.

Large Container House Size

To meet greater space demands, some container houses adopt an extended design, such as a specification of 7 meters in length and 3 meters in width, with a height also between 2.7 and 2.8 meters. This size of container house can have an internal area of up to 21 square meters and is often used for two-story assembled houses or office areas with corridors. Through modular assembly, the usable area can be further expanded to adapt to scenarios with high space requirements, such as construction site dormitories and exhibition halls.

Customized Sizes

If existing specifications cannot meet specific needs, the size of container houses can be customized according to actual usage. For example, non-standard-sized container houses can be designed by adjusting the length, width, or height, but it is necessary to ensure structural safety and avoid affecting overall stability due to size changes. Customized container houses are commonly found in special scenarios, such as mobile laboratories, medical stations, or personalized residences, and their design needs to take into account functional requirements and transportation conditions comprehensively.

The choice of house container size should comprehensively consider the usage scenario, space requirements, and transportation conditions. Standard single containers are suitable for most conventional scenarios, small containers are ideal for compact spaces, and large or customized containers can meet special needs.
