Welding of Container Plate House Roofing Tiles

Admin September 17, 2026

The roofing tiles of container plate houses can be welded, but multiple aspects need to be considered.

I. Weldability Container plates are usually made of metal materials and possess weldability. However, the weldability of container plates varies depending on their material, thickness, and surface treatment state. For example, different metal materials have different physical properties such as melting points and thermal conductivities, which affect the difficulty and effectiveness of welding. Different plate thicknesses require different parameters for welding current and voltage. Surface treatment states, such as the presence of coatings, can also interfere with the welding process. Therefore, when selecting a welding method, these factors must be fully considered.

II. Selection of Welding Methods Common welding methods include manual arc welding, gas shielded welding, and laser welding. Manual arc welding is simple to operate and has low equipment requirements, but the welding quality is greatly influenced by human factors such as the welder's skill level and operational proficiency. Gas shielded welding uses gas as a protective medium to effectively prevent air from contaminating the welding area, resulting in stable welding quality, but the equipment cost is relatively high. Laser welding offers the advantages of fast welding speed and high precision, but it is more suitable for thinner plates and may not be well-suited for thicker container plates.

III. Ensuring Welding Quality Before welding, the steel should be preheated to reduce welding stress and prevent the occurrence of cracks and other defects after welding. During the welding process, the welding current and voltage, welding speed, and number of welding layers should be strictly controlled. Symmetrical welding should be used to reduce welding deformation, and the cleanliness of the welding joints should be ensured to prevent impurities from affecting the welding quality. After welding, the welds should be visually inspected for obvious defects such as cracks and slag inclusions, and non-destructive testing should be carried out to further ensure the internal quality of the welds.

IV. Safety Operating Procedures During the welding process, personal protective equipment such as safety goggles and gloves must be worn to prevent welding sparks and splashes from causing harm to the eyes and skin. At the same time, ensure good ventilation at the welding site, keep it away from flammable and explosive materials, and maintain a clean site to avoid fire accidents and other safety issues.

V. Other Precautions Most container roofs use a combination of 50mm thick color-coated steel tiles spot-welded and sealed with sealant. However, aging of the rubber strips, loosening of screws, and thermal expansion and contraction can cause gaps in the welds, leading to water leakage, so regular inspection and maintenance are required. The roofing material of container houses is only about 1mm thick. Standing on it for a long time or stacking shelves can cause the roof to collapse, affecting the waterproofing effect. If people need to work on the roof, thicker profiles and load-bearing reinforcement are required.
