Water Inside Container House Roof
Admin September 16, 2026
Water inside the roof of a container house may be caused by issues with the waterproof layer, loose fasteners, construction defects, or poor drainage, and requires targeted treatment based on the specific cause.

Waterproof Layer Issues
- Cause: If the waterproof layer of the container house ages and cracks, or if the waterproofing during construction is not done properly, it can lead to rainwater infiltration. For example, if the structural adhesive at the seams of the roof's iron sheet layer is not applied well, or if the moisture-proof membrane is not properly adhered or sealed, it can cause leakage.
- Solution: It is necessary to reapply waterproof adhesive or repair the moisture-proof membrane to ensure tight sealing at the seams. For severely aged waterproof layers, they should be completely removed and then re-laid with qualified waterproof materials.
Loose or Aged Fasteners
- Cause: During the installation and use of the container house, if the roof is stepped on, causing the fasteners to loosen, or if the waterproof gaskets of the fasteners age, it can lead to water leakage.
- Solution: Regularly inspect and tighten all roof fasteners and replace aged waterproof gaskets. For areas that are frequently stepped on, protective plates or warning signs can be added to prevent human-induced damage.
Construction Defects
- Cause: If unqualified waterproof materials are used during construction, or if the cracks around openings (such as those for installing fans or exhaust pipes) are not properly waterproofed, it can lead to water leakage later on.
- Solution: Re-apply waterproof sealing around the openings and use qualified waterproof materials to fill the cracks. For aged container houses, a comprehensive inspection and repair of all construction defects are necessary.
Poor Drainage
- Cause: If the gutter of the container house has no horizontal slope, the outlet design is unreasonable, or the gutter's anti-corrosion treatment is inadequate, leading to rust erosion and debris clogging the outlet, it can cause water accumulation and backflow.
- Solution: Clear debris from the gutter to ensure the outlet is unobstructed; apply anti-corrosion treatment to the gutter or replace rusted components; adjust the slope of the gutter to ensure rainwater can drain smoothly.
