Wanda Container House

Admin September 16, 2026

Wanda container houses are not a unified brand or type, and their nature needs to be judged based on specific scenarios. Common types include commercial-renovated container houses, construction-site container houses, and second-hand container houses, among others. The following is an analysis from different scenarios:

Commercial Renovation Scenario

Some Wanda Plazas, either around or inside, may use containers to be renovated into shops. For example, the "Starlight Night Market" at Ningde Wanda Plaza uses containers as shops. These houses are usually movable, with wheels at the bottom or elevated, and are used for commercial purposes such as catering and clothing. Their legality needs to be judged based on local policies: If they comply with the regulations of the urban management department on temporary buildings (e.g., non-fixed and movable), and do not occupy public passageways or fire exits, they may be deemed compliant; if there is street vending or failure to go through the approval process, they may be deemed illegal constructions. For example, the container shops at Ningde Wanda Plaza were identified by the housing and construction department as "suspected of street vending", but it was not clearly defined as an illegal construction.

Construction Site Temporary Housing Scenario

Container houses produced by companies such as Qingdao Xinwanda Container Technology Co., Ltd. are mainly used for temporary offices, accommodation, or canteens at construction sites. These houses adopt a modular design, with the main steel structure passing the load-bearing capacity test, and the enclosure system meeting the requirements for waterproofing, sound insulation, and formaldehyde limits. They have the characteristics of factory prefabrication and rapid on-site installation. Their legality is usually high because they comply with the regulations for temporary buildings at construction sites and need to pass full-chain quality inspections and safety assessments, effectively avoiding the safety hazards of traditional prefabricated houses in extreme weather conditions.

Second-hand Container House Scenario

There are rental, sales, and renovation businesses for second-hand containers in places like Weifang. These houses may be used for warehouses, temporary housing, or commercial purposes. Their legality needs to meet two points: First, structural safety, which needs to pass authoritative testing; second, compliant use. If used for residence or commerce, they need to comply with local planning and fire protection requirements. For example, when a second-hand container is renovated into a house, it is necessary to ensure that the electrical system and fire rating meet the standards to avoid being identified as an illegal construction due to unauthorized construction.
