US Research and Development of Mobile Toilets
The United States has achieved various results in the research and development of mobile toilets, including movable public toilets, disposable restrooms, and smart public toilets.

Movable Public Toilets: Their design emphasizes flexibility and convenience, enabling rapid deployment in different urban areas such as city centers, parks, or large event venues with high foot traffic, effectively alleviating the usage pressure on fixed public toilets. In terms of manufacturing materials, eco-friendly materials are used, and multiple energy-saving and environmental protection measures are incorporated. For example, the use of energy-saving lamps reduces energy consumption; the installation of water circulation systems and low-flow flushing devices minimizes water waste. Additionally, multiple smart technologies are integrated. The automatic sensor flushing system makes usage more convenient without manual operation; the smart lighting control can automatically adjust the brightness according to the ambient light; and the remote monitoring function enhances the management efficiency of public toilets, allowing managers to have real-time knowledge of the usage and equipment status of public toilets.
Disposable Restrooms: They look like plastic bags but are quite practical. They offer good privacy protection due to their excellent concealment. Internally, they are equipped with sound insulation settings and are tightly designed, so users don't have to worry about exposure. However, these disposable restrooms also have some drawbacks. Their appearance is relatively simple and crude, giving people a sense of insecurity, and may be difficult for those with cleanliness obsessions to accept.
Smart Public Toilets: New York City once invested $4 million to launch a smart public toilet pilot project. These toilets have various functions such as automatic timing, smart early warning, and remote supervision. One of the most prominent features is the strict implementation of a 10-minute time limit for usage. Before the countdown ends, the system will give a voice reminder, and after the time limit, it will play bilingual (English and Spanish) prompts, and the sliding door will open automatically. The unlocking method adopts an intelligent design, allowing citizens to enter by sending a text message or swiping a community-specific card. These smart public toilets do not need to be connected to the urban water and sewage networks, have an efficient installation process, and lower costs. Moreover, they are equipped with touch-free fixtures and free menstrual products, providing a clean and convenient usage environment for citizens.
