Installation of Mobile Toilets in Urban Villages
Admin October 10, 2026
The installation of mobile toilets in urban villages varies depending on the region and actual needs, but generally aims to improve residents' living environments and address sanitation issues caused by dry toilets. Mobile toilets are also characterized by their flexibility and environmental friendliness.

I. Specific Cases
- Chenjiayuan Village: Located in Maqun Subdistrict, Qixia District, it is the last urban village in the Maqun area. Previously, most of the toilets attached to residents' self-built houses were dry toilets. With the advancement of the "Toilet Revolution", all dry toilets in the area have been demolished, and the community has added four water-flushing mobile public toilets in the vicinity. However, with the increase in the migrant population, these public toilets can no longer meet the demand. On February 1, 2023, a new public toilet was built beside the small square in Chenjiayuan Village. This toilet is fully equipped with facilities, including barrier-free facilities and baby care stations. Its daily management system is posted on the wall, it is open 24 hours a day, and is managed, inspected, cleaned, and maintained by dedicated sanitation workers. The toilet was designed and constructed in accordance with the "Urban Public Toilet Design Standards", using a steel frame structure and energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and recyclable panels. It can be moved as a whole or reassembled elsewhere in the future.
- Kongjiaying Village and Shilamenmoreng Village: These villages belong to Huimin District, Hohhot. The Huimin District Environmental Sanitation Bureau has carried out a concentrated demolition of dry toilets that have not yet been renovated in the jurisdiction and has first installed multiple mobile public toilets near the dry toilets to be demolished or renovated. The newly installed mobile public toilets are aesthetically pleasing. When there is no electricity, solar power can be added. In areas with inconvenient water access, options such as waterless packaging, foam sealing, or microbial degradation can be chosen. Among them, the waterless packaging type requires no water at all, the foam sealing type requires a small amount of water, and the microbial degradation type requires almost no water and does not require feces cleaning.
II. Characteristics of Mobile Toilets
- Flexibility: Mobile toilets can be moved as a whole or reassembled elsewhere according to actual needs, adapting to the constantly changing living environment in urban villages.
- Environmental Friendliness: They use energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and recyclable panels and offer multiple sewage disposal options, such as waterless packaging and microbial degradation, reducing environmental pollution.
- Functionality: Mobile toilets are fully equipped with facilities, including barrier-free facilities and baby care stations, meeting the needs of different groups of people.
