Mobile Toilets in Urban Scenic Areas

Admin September 21, 2026

Mobile toilets in urban scenic areas come in various types, each with unique design features to meet the needs of different scenarios and tourists.

I. Regular Mobile Toilets

  • 6-Row Mobile Toilets: These toilets are constructed with a galvanized steel frame, which is sturdy and durable, capable of withstanding a certain degree of external impact. The roof is covered with waterproof asphalt shingles, providing excellent waterproofing to effectively prevent rainwater leakage. Their greatest advantage is that they can be easily moved by crane, allowing for flexible placement in different locations within the scenic area. The interior facilities are relatively complete, equipped with squat toilets to meet basic sanitation needs, hand basins for tourists to clean their hands, exhaust fans to promptly remove odors and maintain fresh air, and ceiling lights to provide sufficient illumination.
  • Thickened Galvanized Square Tube Welded Mobile Toilets: These toilets are welded from thickened galvanized square tubes, making them even more robust and durable in design. This structure can adapt to more complex environments and usage scenarios, is less prone to damage, and can be used stably for a long time, reducing the frequency of maintenance and replacement and lowering usage costs.
  • 4-Squat Mobile Toilets: These toilets are 4 meters long and 2.3 meters wide, with a pointed roof design, giving them a relatively aesthetically pleasing appearance. The exterior walls are made of thermal-insulating metal carved panels, which can effectively retain internal heat in winter, reducing heat loss, and block external heat in summer, providing tourists with a relatively comfortable sanitation environment. The men's toilet is equipped with two squat toilets, urinals, and column basins, among other facilities, reasonably planning the space to meet the usage needs of tourists of different genders.

II. "Tidal Toilets" These are being trialed in some urban scenic areas. They feature several "gender-neutral universal toilet stalls" and use movable signs or lockable sliding doors to dynamically adjust usage permissions based on real-time tourist traffic. During peak tourist periods, when there is a high demand for women's toilets, some of the universal stalls can be adjusted to be female-only to address the issue of long queues for women's toilets and improve toilet usage efficiency. However, previously, a "tidal toilet" at Xihu Scenic Area in Huizhou, Guangdong, sparked controversy due to its door signs that could be easily moved. Later, the scenic area removed the movable signs and planned to replace them with fixed slot-type signs to avoid management issues caused by the signs being arbitrarily changed.
