Types of Prefabricated Steel Structure Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated steel structure houses are mainly divided into three types based on their structure and usage scenarios: light-weight steel structure houses, heavy-duty steel structure houses, and large-span steel structure houses. Additionally, light-steel construction, as one of its forms, also has subdivisions.

Light-weight Steel Structure Houses: These are a common type of prefabricated steel structure houses. They primarily use light-weight steel frames as the main structure, which offers several significant advantages. Their lightweight nature reduces the overall demand on the foundation, lowering the difficulty and cost of foundation construction. They are strong, ensuring the structural safety of the house during normal use. Construction is fast because most components are prefabricated in factories and only need to be assembled on-site, significantly shortening the construction period. Light-weight steel structure houses have a wide range of applications, typically used in residential buildings, office buildings, commercial facilities, and other civilian structures to meet people's daily living and working needs. They can also serve as temporary buildings or mobile houses, such as temporary dormitories for workers on construction sites or temporary office spaces during large events.

Heavy-duty Steel Structure Houses: These houses are constructed with thicker steel, giving them higher load-bearing capacity and stability. They play a crucial role in scenarios with extremely high demands on building structural strength. They are commonly used in industrial plants, warehouses, large commercial facilities, and other buildings requiring high load-bearing capacity. For example, in industrial production, some large machinery and equipment have high load-bearing requirements for the building structure, which heavy-duty steel structure houses can adequately meet. Warehouses storing large quantities of goods also need buildings with sufficient load-bearing capacity to ensure safety.

Large-span Steel Structure Houses: These refer to buildings with large spans, such as stadiums, exhibition halls, and airport terminals. To meet the demands of large spans and open spaces, special steel structure designs are required. These designs enable the building to maintain structural stability and safety without excessive internal support columns, creating open interior spaces that meet the functional needs of large events and personnel gatherings.

Additionally, light-steel construction, as a form of prefabricated steel structure houses, also comes in various types, such as integrated light-steel plants and residences, modular assembled villas, further enriching the variety and application scenarios of prefabricated steel structure houses.
