Tongren Container Module House

Admin September 15, 2026

Tongren container module houses generally refer to modular buildings that are transformed or constructed based on containers. They have characteristics such as mobility, combinability, environmental protection, and cost-effectiveness, and are widely used in scenarios such as construction site housing, commercial offices, and cultural and tourism facilities.

I. Types and Characteristics

  1. Second-hand Container Renovated Houses
Houses renovated from second-hand containers are commonly seen in local services in Tongren. These houses are usually made by reusing discarded cargo containers. They have a sturdy structure and low cost, making them suitable for specific occasions such as construction site dormitories and temporary warehouses.

  2. Brand-new Welded Box-type Portable Houses
These houses adopt a hot-dip galvanized cold-formed steel frame paired with fire-resistant polyurethane sandwich panels, providing thermal insulation and fire resistance. They can be used independently or stacked in multiple layers, suitable for scenarios such as construction site office areas and temporary meeting rooms. Their advantages include convenient transportation, installation, and mobility, low cost, and a lifespan of over a dozen years.

  3. Demountable Box-type Portable Houses
These houses use modular production technology to transform containers into standard components, which are then temporarily assembled on-site. The main purpose is to speed up installation and disassembly and reduce transportation costs. However, their sturdiness is slightly inferior to that of box-type portable houses, and they are mostly used for export scenarios.

II. Technical Regulations and Standards

  1. Structural Safety
Container houses must meet the standards for low-rise and multi-story modular combined houses, with a maximum of 6 stories and a height of no more than 24 meters, and an earthquake resistance of no more than 8 degrees. For steel materials, welded weathering steel (GB/T 4171) should be used, and for non-container components, Q235B/Q345B (GB/T 700, GB/T 1591) should be used to ensure structural stability.

  2. Fire Prevention and Corrosion Resistance
The use of flammable core materials such as EPS for enclosure filling is prohibited. For crowded places, Class A rock wool/glass wool should be used, with a fire resistance limit of no less than 0.5 hours. Steel structures should be coated with fire-resistant paint, and fire escape routes, fire extinguishers, and other fire protection facilities should be equipped.

III. Application Scenarios

  1. Construction Site Housing
Container houses can be quickly erected as temporary dormitories and office areas to meet the short-term needs of construction sites. They can also be repeatedly disassembled and reused, reducing costs.

  2. Commercial Offices
By horizontally combining containers or vertically stacking them, spaces such as meeting rooms, exhibition halls, and homestay lobbies can be created to adapt to different commercial scenarios.

  3. Cultural and Tourism Facilities
The modular design allows container houses to be customized into popular homestays, cafes, etc. They can be arranged in various ways such as offset, overhanging, L-shaped, or U-shaped enclosures to create unique buildings.
