Tonglu Large Container House
There are applications of large container houses in Tonglu, mainly reflected in archaeological site dormitories and container homestays.
In the field of archaeology, the Hangzhou Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology has set up containers beside archaeological sites in Tonglu as 'mobile dormitories' for young archaeologists. Although these containers have an ordinary appearance, their interiors are carefully arranged with simple desks, green plants, archaeological photos, and drawings, creating a warm and work-conducive living environment. The containers not only provide convenient accommodation for archaeologists, saving commuting time, but also serve as places for work discussions and inspiration exchanges, demonstrating the practicality and flexibility of container houses in specific work scenarios.
In terms of tourism homestays, container homestays emerged in Houxi Village, He Village Township, Tonglu County in 2019. The 'Zai Shui Yi Fang' container homestay, which opened in the same year, has become a popular网红打卡地 (internet-famous check-in spot) in the area. Composed of more than thirty containers, the homestay features an artistic and dreamy architectural complex. The rooms are decorated according to the standards of boutique homestays, with separate wet and dry areas, equipped with basic amenities such as sofas and televisions. Some rooms also have spacious balconies or floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing guests to enjoy the lake and mountain views. This model of combining containers with tourism homestays not only meets tourists' demand for unique accommodation but also promotes the development of local tourism.
In addition, several companies in Tonglu provide services related to container houses. For example, Hangzhou Zhonghao Integrated Housing Co., Ltd. mainly rents and sells residential container houses and other supporting facilities, and undertakes customized container construction projects. The Hangzhou branch of Shanghai Delosi Mobile Housing Manufacturing Co., Ltd. mainly deals in residential containers and other products. Its container-type mobile houses have advantages such as reliable structure, convenient lifting, and aesthetic appearance, making them suitable for various temporary projects and mobile sites.
