Tonghua Container House Construction

Admin September 15, 2026

The construction of container houses in Tonghua requires comprehensive consideration of multiple factors, including design, materials, construction, and post-construction maintenance.

I. Design Planning The design of container houses should be based on the intended usage scenarios (such as construction site dormitories, office areas, cultural and tourism facilities, etc.) to determine the functional layout. For example, packing-box units use hot-dip galvanized cold-formed steel frames paired with fire-resistant polyurethane sandwich panels, which can be used independently or stacked in multiple layers, making them suitable for construction site dormitories and temporary meeting rooms. Light steel frame houses use cold-formed thin-walled light steel frames for load-bearing, with walls filled with insulation materials, allowing for flexible customization of appearance and layout, suitable for self-built houses and homestays. When designing, factors such as insulation, heat resistance, fire resistance, and ventilation should be considered. For example, in high-altitude areas, special designs such as thickened insulation layers, anti-cold bridge structures, and detachable sunshades are required.

II. Material Selection

  1. Frame Materials: High-strength steel (such as 6mm steel plate bent into beams) is preferred to ensure structural stability and lightweight construction, reducing transportation costs.
  2. Wall and Roof Materials: Double-sided color-coated steel plates with rock wool sandwich composite panels are commonly used, offering waterproof, fire-resistant, and insulating properties. Some projects use fire-resistant polyurethane sandwich panels to enhance heat insulation.
  3. Accessory Materials: Sealants and connectors must meet weather resistance requirements to ensure long-term use without leakage or deformation.

III. Construction Process

  1. Factory Prefabrication: Processes such as welding of steel frames, prefabrication of walls and roof panels, and embedding of water and electricity pipelines are completed in the factory to ensure component precision.
  2. On-site Assembly: Modular design allows for rapid assembly of container units using bolts or welding, reducing wet work and construction time. For example, 96 containers can be assembled into a three-story building in just 11 days.
  3. Detail Handling: This includes sealing of container units, installation of doors and windows, and interior decoration, all of which must strictly adhere to building codes to ensure safety and comfort.

IV. Post-construction Maintenance

  1. Regular Inspections: Check the anti-corrosion coating of steel structures and the aging of wall materials every six months to a year, and promptly repair any damage.
  2. Anti-corrosion Treatment: Apply anti-rust coatings to exposed metal components to extend their service life.
  3. Functional Upgrades: Add facilities such as solar panels and battery compartments according to usage needs to improve energy efficiency.
