How to Move Toilet Squat Positions
Moving toilet squat positions can be achieved through two main methods: re-laying the squat pit or using a position shifter. The specific operation should be carried out in accordance with on-site conditions and construction specifications. Here are the detailed instructions:

Method 1: Re-laying the Squat Pit
If a significant adjustment of the squat position is required, or if there are structural issues in the area where the original squat toilet is located (such as aging pipes or insufficient space), re-laying can be adopted. The specific steps are as follows:
- Remove the original squat toilet: Use professional tools (such as an electric hammer or angle grinder) to break up and clean the original squat toilet, ensuring that the base layer is flat and free of debris.
- Adjust the sewer pipe: According to the design position of the new squat pit, re-lay or extend the sewer pipe. Pay attention to the pipe slope (usually 2%-3%) to ensure smooth drainage and prevent blockages.
- Ground repair and waterproofing: After the pipe is laid, level the ground with cement mortar and apply waterproof coating (such as polyurethane waterproof coating) to ensure that the waterproof layer covers the area around the pipe and the new squat pit, with a thickness of no less than 1.5 millimeters.
- Install a new squat toilet: After the waterproof layer is dry, lay floor tiles and reserve an installation hole for the squat toilet. Finally, fix the new squat toilet in the designated position, connect it to the sewer pipe, and seal the interface.
Method 2: Using a Position Shifter
If a minor adjustment of the squat position is required (such as a small deviation in the center distance), or if it is not possible to re-lay the pipe due to space constraints, a position shifter can be used for local adjustment. The specific operations are as follows:
- Choose the right position shifter: It is recommended to use an offset position shifter, whose center-to-center distance can be adjusted to 6-7 centimeters, suitable for most squat toilet models. The bottom of the position shifter needs to be flush with the ground to ensure full coverage after tile laying.
- Install the position shifter: Take 42 centimeters from the wall as the standard center distance (i.e., the distance from the front end of the squat toilet to the wall), fix the position shifter at the interface of the sewer pipe, and bond a short pipe. The offset position shifter adopts a slow-bend design, which can reduce the risk of blockage. It is recommended to use a 110-millimeter flat or round pipe to enhance drainage capacity.
- Sealing and testing: After installation, seal the interfaces between the position shifter, the pipe, and the ground with glass glue or cement to prevent leakage. Finally, conduct a water flow test to check whether the drainage is smooth. Confirm that there is no leakage before carrying out ground repair.
Precautions:
- Re-laying the squat pit requires damaging the original ground and has a relatively long construction period. It is suitable for the decoration stage or scenarios where large-scale renovation is allowed.
- Although using a position shifter is simple to operate, it may increase drainage resistance. Regular pipe cleaning is required to prevent blockages.
- Regardless of the method used, ensure that the slope of the sewer pipe is reasonable and strictly comply with waterproof construction specifications to ensure safety during use.
