Toilet Relocation Methods

Admin September 20, 2026

Toilet relocation can be achieved through methods such as the toilet offset connector method, converting floor-drain to wall-drain, relocating in a sunken bathroom, and modifying the sewage pipe in a neighbor's home. Details are as follows:

Toilet offset connector method: This is suitable for small-scale and short-distance relocations. Typically, the relocation distance ranges from 10 to 30 centimeters, and it is generally not recommended to exceed 2 meters. The amount of modification is relatively small, and the cost is also low. However, using a toilet offset connector may have a certain impact on the flushing effect and increase the risk of blockage. During construction, a slope of 1% - 3% needs to be reserved to ensure the smooth discharge of sewage. If a toilet offset connector is used for inter-floor drainage, since the floor slab cannot be excavated, the floor slab needs to be raised to meet the installation requirements.

Converting floor-drain to wall-drain: This involves directly connecting the toilet to the sewage riser, but the toilet can only be moved to the adjacent wall of the sewage riser and not to the opposite wall. This modification method has many advantages. After modification, the toilet is less likely to get blocked and is applicable to both same-floor and inter-floor drainage. However, converting to a wall-drain requires building a false wall. During decoration, it can be combined with a niche to create storage space and increase practicality.

Relocating in a sunken bathroom: The floor slab position of a sunken bathroom is relatively low, and its internal floor is modifiable. In this case, the toilet position can be moved by directly lengthening or shortening the pipes. The advantage of this method is that the operation is relatively flexible, and the pipes can be adjusted according to actual needs.

Modifying the sewage pipe in a neighbor's home: For inter-floor drainage, it is possible to consider going to the neighbor's home to directly modify the sewage pipe to the desired position. This method is relatively simple from a technical perspective. If the neighbor agrees to the modification, the difficulty is relatively low. However, the challenge lies in persuading the neighbor to agree to such a modification, which requires sufficient communication and negotiation with the neighbor to maintain good neighborly relations.
