Movability of the Door Opposite the Toilet
Whether the door opposite the toilet can be moved requires discussion on a case-by-case basis and cannot be generalized. It needs to be comprehensively judged based on the nature of the wall, community regulations, and structural safety.

1. Do not move the entrance door or bathroom door opening without authorization if it involves public areas or load-bearing structures If the door opposite the toilet is the entrance door and the door opening location involves public area planning (such as corridors, elevator lobbies, etc.), unauthorized modifications may violate community management regulations. For example, there have been cases where, during the renovation of a new home, because the entrance door faced the bathroom directly, the homeowner attempted to remove and relocate the entrance door opening, but was stopped by the property management. The reason is that such modifications may disrupt the overall architectural layout of the community, affecting public safety designs such as fire exits and escape routes, and may even involve illegal construction issues. In addition, if there are concrete load-bearing structures such as columns or shear walls at the door opening location, forced removal and modification will damage the stability of the main building structure, posing safety hazards, and such situations are absolutely prohibited from being moved.
2. The bathroom door opening can be moved horizontally to adjust its position if the walls on both sides are non-load-bearing walls If the door opposite the toilet is the bathroom door and the walls on both sides of the door opening are non-load-bearing walls (such as lightweight partition walls, brick partition walls, etc.), theoretically, the position of the bathroom door can be moved horizontally by removing the walls and rebuilding them, thereby offsetting the layout relative to the main door. However, two points need to be noted:
- Property notification: Even if it is a modification of non-load-bearing walls, it is necessary to submit a renovation application to the property management in advance, clarifying the scope of the modification and the construction plan, to avoid being required to restore the original state or facing penalties for not notifying.
- Structural safety: Before construction, it is necessary to confirm that there are no key structures such as beams or pipes above the wall to avoid problems such as floor sagging or pipe rupture after removal and modification. For example, if there are drainage risers or ventilation pipes above the bathroom door, moving the door opening may require simultaneous adjustment of the pipe positions, increasing the difficulty and cost of construction.
3. Functionality and compliance should be prioritized when moving door openings Even if it is technically feasible, moving the door opposite the toilet also requires evaluating actual needs. For example, if adjusting the door position solely due to feng shui concerns, it may be necessary to weigh the construction cost against the effect; if it is due to space utilization needs (such as expanding the bathroom or foyer area), it needs to be combined with the overall renovation plan design. In addition, after the modification, it is necessary to ensure that the new door opening complies with building regulations (such as a door width of no less than 70 cm, barrier-free access requirements, etc.) to avoid inconvenience in subsequent use.
