Toilet Movable Water Barrier Threshold

Admin October 05, 2026

Currently, there are no fully standardized finished products for 'toilet movable water barrier thresholds' on the market, but similar functions can be achieved through customization or by selecting specific types of products. The following provides an explanation from three aspects: product types, implementation methods, and application scenarios.

1. Common Types of Water Barrier Thresholds and Their Limitations
Most existing products are fixed, such as the岗石 (gangshi, a type of stone) shower room thresholds in Foshan, Guangdong; bathroom waterproof strips in Hebi, Henan; and aluminum alloy or stainless steel water barrier thresholds in Hefei, Anhui. These products form a waterproof barrier by being embedded in the ground or affixed, but their positions cannot be adjusted after installation, failing to directly meet the need for 'movability'. Although their material properties (such as the corrosion resistance of gangshi, the lightness of aluminum alloy, and the durability of stainless steel) are suitable for bathroom environments, their fixed structures limit usage flexibility.

2. Feasible Solutions for Achieving 'Movable' Functionality

  • Flexible Water Barrier Strips: Some products use flexible materials (such as silicone or PVC) that can be temporarily bent or folded, suitable for scenarios requiring temporary adjustment of the waterproof area. For example, in the dry-wet separation area of a bathroom, users can bend the water barrier strip into an arc or straight line according to their needs to block water overflow. However, these products are relatively low in height (usually 3-5 centimeters), and their waterproofing effectiveness depends on the ground slope. Additionally, long-term bending may affect the material's lifespan.
  • Customized Design: By communicating needs with manufacturers, water barrier thresholds with wheels or detachable structures can be customized. For example, installing wheels at the bottom of an aluminum alloy or stainless steel frame allows it to slide along ground tracks; or adopting a modular design where multiple water barrier strips are connected by buckles, enabling users to assemble or disassemble them as needed. Customized products need to consider material waterproofing (such as the rust resistance of 304 stainless steel), structural stability (the load-bearing capacity of the wheels), and sealing with the ground (to prevent water leakage).

3. Application Scenarios and Precautions
Movable water barrier thresholds are suitable for temporary waterproofing needs, such as rental home renovations, multi-functional bathrooms (requiring frequent switching between dry and wet areas), or assisting the elderly or children. When selecting, note the following:

  • Height and Slope: The height of the water barrier threshold should be higher than the ground drainage slope difference (usually recommended to be 5-8 centimeters) to ensure effective blocking of water flow;
  • Material Safety: Avoid using materials that are prone to aging or contain harmful substances (such as low-quality PVC), especially in households with children or pets;
  • Installation Convenience: Prioritize products that are hole-free or can be quickly disassembled to reduce damage to the ground.

For long-term use, it is recommended to combine fixed water barrier thresholds with movable water barrier strips (such as silicone water barrier strips) to balance flexibility and waterproofing effectiveness through a combined approach.
