Installation of a Single Mobile Toilet in Tibet

Admin October 02, 2026

The installation of a single mobile toilet in Tibet requires consideration of the characteristics of the plateau environment, achieving rapid deployment and stable operation through modular design, application of special materials, and standardized processes. The specific key points are as follows:

1. Material and Structural Design
The outer shell is made of rock wool sandwich color steel plates, which are resistant to ultraviolet rays and low temperatures. The interior is filled with polyurethane or rock wool insulation layers, enabling adaptation to extreme low-temperature environments ranging from minus 25℃ to minus 40℃. Structural connectors are made of galvanized or stainless steel materials to prevent metal oxidation and corrosion caused by the thin air on the plateau. The main frame uses modular prefabricated steel keel components connected by high-strength bolts. The wall and roof panels adopt a hidden snap-fit system, with seams filled with sealing strips to ensure airtightness and reduce heat loss.

2. Foundation Treatment
For the permafrost layer on the plateau, adjustable steel frame foundations or shallow-buried insulation layer designs are used to prevent concrete foundations from cracking due to freeze-thaw cycles. Before construction, a portable geological radar is used to detect underground conditions, and the height of the anchor bolts is adjusted to adapt to the terrain, eliminating the need for deep excavation of the foundation and reducing ecological damage. The foundation flatness error must be controlled within 3 millimeters, and the structural perpendicularity is double-checked using a plumb line.

3. Installation Process

  • Main Body Assembly: The anti-corrosion galvanized steel frame, rock wool sandwich color steel plate box, integrated fecal treatment system, and solar power supply device are prefabricated in the factory and then assembled on-site using standardized interfaces to shorten construction time.
  • Ground Adaptability Adjustment: The anchor bolts are adjusted according to the stratum data, and anti-slip access panels are laid. The entire process can be completed within 72 hours without generating construction waste.
  • Functional Module Integration: Squat toilets, water-saving flushing systems, ventilation ducts, etc., are installed and quickly connected using standardized interfaces to ensure coordinated operation of all components.

4. Environmental Adaptability Modifications

  • Ventilation System: Equipped with a bidirectional air exchange device to maintain indoor temperature while achieving air circulation.
  • Water Supply and Drainage Pipes: Electric tracing tapes are installed to prevent freezing in winter.
  • Power System: Solar photovoltaic panels and battery packs are used for off-grid power supply, enabling basic operation for 168 hours during continuous rainy weather.
  • Roof Design: The inclined structure facilitates the sliding of rain and snow and provides the optimal installation angle for solar panels.
  • Door and Window Sealing: Meets wind and sand resistance standards, and the hinge mechanism has anti-loosening features.

5. Quality Control and Testing
All bolt connection points are tightened with a torque wrench and marked for inspection status. Waterproof testing is conducted using the segmented water injection method, and insulation resistance testing ensures that the electrical wiring meets safety standards. Functional debugging includes the response time of the flushing valve (0.5-1 second), the air exchange efficiency of the negative pressure ventilation system (more than 15 times per hour), and a 48-hour continuous operation test of the temperature control system.

6. Ecological Protection Measures
The installation process does not require hardening of large areas of land, preserving the integrity of the meadow root system. Fecal matter is treated through biological degradation and physical separation to meet discharge standards, and the residues are regularly transported to low-altitude areas for treatment, reducing the impact on the plateau ecosystem.
