Tianjin Mobile Toilet Upgrading and Renovation

Admin October 06, 2026

Tianjin has taken a variety of effective measures for the upgrading and renovation of mobile toilets, covering different areas to meet the needs of citizens and tourists.

Heping District: In response to the peak tourist flow in the Wudadao tourist area, Heping District has taken proactive actions. Six mobile toilets have been put into use to rapidly increase the toilet resources in this area and alleviate the pressure on tourists' toilet use. At the same time, a long-term plan has been formulated to build one new public toilet to further expand the number of public toilets; renovate some old public toilets to improve their facility levels and service quality. In addition, it has also mobilized street-side businesses and enterprises and institutions to open their internal toilets, integrating social resources to form a diversified toilet service system and provide more convenience for tourists.

Along the Haihe River: In January 2026, the renovation and upgrading of five movable public toilets along the east bank from Chifeng Bridge to Fumin Bridge were completed. This renovation fully considered the needs of different groups of people. Low-age children's sinks and urinals were added for the convenience of children; the internal lighting was improved to make the inside of the public toilets brighter; heating and cooling air conditioners were installed to provide a comfortable toilet environment for users; the toilet stalls were also optimized to enhance the user experience. These renovation measures have made the public toilets along the Haihe River more user-friendly and modern.

Hedong District: Starting from the second half of last year, Hedong District has carried out renovations on 29 old public toilets that were identified. The focus is on public toilets around vegetable markets and old residential communities with high pedestrian traffic, as these areas have a large demand for public toilets. Through the renovation, the sanitary conditions and facility integrity rates of the public toilets have been improved. All renovations have been completed and put into use, effectively improving the living environment of surrounding residents and enhancing their quality of life.

Through these regional upgrading and renovation measures for mobile toilets, Tianjin has comprehensively improved the service level of public toilets from multiple aspects such as quantity expansion, facility renewal, and resource integration, creating a more convenient and comfortable toilet environment for citizens and tourists.
