Tianjin Mobile Public Toilets

Admin October 19, 2026

Tianjin has carried out diverse practices in mobile public toilets to meet the toilet needs in different scenarios.

I. Basic Types and Specifications The mobile public toilets that have been put into use in Tianjin have basic functional partitions, clearly distinguishing between men's and women's toilets to meet basic usage requirements. Some mobile eco-friendly toilets are designed for scenarios such as scenic spots, campsites, and parks, with relatively flexible specifications. For example, a grille-style mobile toilet repurchased by a customer is 12 meters long and 3 meters wide, with a total of 12 squatting positions. It can accommodate a relatively large number of people using it simultaneously and is suitable for open areas with high pedestrian traffic.

II. Specific Scenario Applications To cope with the toilet pressure during the peak tourist season or large-scale events, Tianjin has taken measures to temporarily add mobile public toilets. For example, during the Begonia Festival in Heping District, 6 mobile public toilets were put into use, quickly supplementing the number of public toilets and alleviating the toilet difficulties for tourists and citizens. In addition, for the core tourist areas, Heping District has also planned long-term construction and renovation: it plans to build a new fixed public toilet in the Wudadao Tourist Area and renovate some old public toilets at the same time, forming a complementary model of "mobile + fixed".

III. Technological Innovation and Functional Upgrades On August 13, 2026, the new modular smart public toilet put into use around the Tianjin Concert Hall in Heping District represents the direction of technological upgrades. This public toilet adopts a modular hoisting process and can be relocated as a whole to other areas, adapting to the dynamic adjustment needs of urban space. Its energy system achieves independent solar power generation through photovoltaic panels laid on the roof and walls, reducing operational energy consumption. In terms of functional layout, in addition to standardized toilet spaces, it also adds barrier-free toilets and independent母婴室 (nursing rooms), reflecting care for special groups and enhancing the inclusiveness of public services.

IV. Environmental Protection and Sustainability Tianjin's mobile public toilet practices focus on environmental protection concepts. For example, grille-style toilets may adopt water-saving or fecal harmless treatment technologies to reduce the impact on the environment; the photovoltaic power generation system of smart public toilets reduces carbon emissions through the utilization of renewable energy. These designs conform to the city's green development goals and provide a demonstration for the sustainable operation of public facilities.

In conclusion, Tianjin's mobile public toilet system has formed a complete chain of "basic functional coverage - scenario-based applications - technological innovation and upgrades - environmental protection and sustainability", meeting both short-term emergency needs and long-term service quality improvements.
