Tiananmen Mobile Toilet
The mobile toilets in the Tiananmen area are mainly tent-style temporary toilets, featuring upgrades, comprehensive facility configurations, and effective odor control.

Upgrade and Transformation: In 2026, Beijing Environmental Sanitation Group's Urban Mechanical Sweeping Company conducted a comprehensive upgrade of the tent-style toilets in the Tiananmen area. The upgraded toilets utilize flame-retardant tent soft materials, stainless steel, and aluminum alloy. The width of the external wall panels has been adjusted from 1 meter to 2 meters, and diamond mesh screens have been added at the junctions between the wall panels and the tent roof to enhance privacy protection. Additionally, barrier-free restrooms have been introduced, improving odor control levels.
Facility Configuration: The five upgraded tent-style temporary toilets are equipped with a total of 142 squatting positions, 5 barrier-free toilet positions, and 128 urinal positions. The height of the squatting position partitions has been increased from 1.1 meters to 1.8 meters, and independent partitions have been installed in the urinal troughs. Each toilet position is newly equipped with handrails, coat hooks, storage racks, and other convenience facilities, and an occupied/unoccupied status indicator has been installed at the entrance of each toilet position. The barrier-free restrooms are equipped with toilets, safety handrails, tissue boxes, SOS alarm buttons, and other devices, providing convenience for special groups.
Odor Control: The floor platform has been redesigned as a long shared platform for six toilet positions, integrating ceramic fixtures with return bends. Sealing rings have been installed at the opening positions of the sewage trench covers. Axial flow fans are installed at the top, and silent small exhaust fans are added at the bottom of the squatting positions, effectively improving odor control levels.
Service Projects: In the 2026 mobile restroom service project for the east and west side roads of Tiananmen Square and the south side of the Memorial Hall, it is required to set up tent restrooms with no fewer than 165 toilet positions on the east side road of Tiananmen Square, and no fewer than 30 toilet positions at two locations on the west side road and the south side of the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, with a total of no fewer than 195 toilet positions, all of which are flush-type. The service period is from March 20, 2026, to November 15, 2026.
