Thickness of Prefabricated House Slabs
The common thicknesses of prefabricated house slabs are 120mm and 150mm. The following provides an explanation from three aspects: thickness specifications, adaptability of span and width, and differences in application scenarios:

1. Typicality of Thickness Specifications
The thickness design of prefabricated house slabs needs to balance structural strength and cost-effectiveness. 120mm and 150mm are the two most widely used specifications in engineering practice, and their selection mainly depends on the load-bearing requirements of the floor. A 120mm-thick prefabricated slab is suitable for areas with relatively low loads, such as residential bedrooms and living rooms, and can meet the live load requirements for daily living. A 150mm-thick prefabricated slab is mostly used in scenarios where there may be concentrated loads from equipment, such as kitchens and bathrooms, or as a reinforced structure for floors with larger spans. For example, when the span of the prefabricated slab exceeds 3.6 meters, a thickness of 150mm can effectively control deflection deformation and ensure structural safety.
2. Adaptability of Span and Width
There is a correlation between the thickness, span, and width of prefabricated slabs. According to engineering experience, the maximum span of prefabricated slabs for residential use is generally 4.2 meters. In this case, if a thickness of 120mm is used, the overall integrity needs to be enhanced by increasing reinforcement or reducing the slab spacing; while a thickness of 150mm can directly meet the load-bearing requirements for a 4.2-meter span. In terms of width, prefabricated slabs are mostly designed in modular sizes of 500mm or 600mm. This combination of width and thickness can not only ensure construction efficiency but also cover a larger floor area through multiple slab拼接 (splicing). For example, a 600mm-wide and 150mm-thick prefabricated slab can form a stable one-way slab force system under a 4.2-meter span.
3. Differentiated Selection of Application Scenarios
In actual engineering projects, the selection of the thickness of prefabricated slabs needs to be combined with building functions and regulatory requirements. For ordinary multi-story residential buildings, a 120mm-thick prefabricated slab can cover the needs of most rooms. Its relatively light self-weight (about 180kg/m²) is beneficial for reducing the overall load of the structure. A 150mm-thick prefabricated slab, due to its greater stiffness, is often used in special areas with vibrating equipment or requiring sound insulation. In addition, regulations in some regions have clear requirements for the minimum thickness of prefabricated slabs. For example, in humid environments, a thickness of 150mm is required to enhance durability, which has also promoted the widespread application of this specification.
