Thickened Container House Wall Panel

Admin September 15, 2026

Thickened container house wall panels typically use materials such as weather-resistant steel plates, galvanized steel plates, and sandwich panels, with thicknesses ranging from 1.2 to 3.0 mm. Some customized products may be thicker, depending on insulation and soundproofing requirements.

I. Common Material Types

The choice of material for container house wall panels directly affects their durability, thermal insulation, and aesthetics.

  1. Weather-Resistant Steel Plate/Galvanized Steel Plate: The outer wall panels often use weather-resistant steel plates or galvanized steel plates with thicknesses of 1.2 to 3.0 mm, formed into corrugated structures through roll forming. These materials are characterized by high strength, corrosion resistance, and strong weather resistance, making them suitable for long-term outdoor use. For example, customized container modular housing often uses such materials for its exterior walls, with surface texture treatments to enhance aesthetics.
  2. Sandwich Panels: Some mobile homes or quick-assembly containers use large-corrugated sandwich panels, with iron sheet thicknesses ranging from 0.2 to 0.8 mm and filled with rock wool or foaming agents (note fire resistance). These materials are cost-effective but have lower durability and aesthetics, making them suitable for temporary construction site housing.
  3. Composite Materials: High-end customized products may adopt multi-layer structures, such as an outer layer of galvanized steel plate + an intermediate insulation layer (polyurethane, rock wool, etc.) + an inner decorative panel (bamboo-wood fiberboard, wood veneer, gypsum board, etc.), combining strength, thermal insulation, and decoration.

II. Relationship Between Thickness and Performance

The thickness of wall panels directly affects the load-bearing, soundproofing, and thermal insulation performance of container houses.

  1. Standard Thickness: The wall panels of ordinary container houses typically have a thickness of 1.2 to 2.0 mm, meeting basic structural strength requirements. For example, Beijing Falilai's container mobile homes use specially shaped steel plates for the main frame, with side panels filled with soundproofing and thermal insulation materials, resulting in a total thickness that may exceed that of conventional steel plates.
  2. Thickened Design: Customized container houses may use thicker wall panels (e.g., 2.5 to 3.0 mm) to enhance wind pressure resistance or meet special environmental requirements (e.g., thermal insulation in cold regions). Additionally, some products indirectly achieve a 'thickened' effect by increasing the thickness of the intermediate layer (e.g., polyurethane insulation layers up to 50 to 100 mm).

III. Application Scenarios and Selection Recommendations

  1. Temporary Housing: For construction site dormitories, warehouses, and other scenarios, cost-effective sandwich panel wall panels with thicknesses of 0.2 to 0.8 mm can be selected, but attention should be paid to fire resistance and durability.
  2. Long-Term Residence/Office: It is recommended to use galvanized steel plate or weather-resistant steel plate wall panels with thicknesses of ≥1.5 mm, paired with insulation layers and decorative inner panels to enhance comfort and aesthetics.
  3. Extreme Environments: In cold or coastal regions, materials with stronger corrosion resistance (e.g., 316 stainless steel) should be selected, and the thickness of the insulation layer should be increased.
