Thermal Insulation Cotton for Container Houses

Admin September 15, 2026

The commonly used thermal insulation cottons for container houses mainly include rock wool boards, glass wool, polystyrene boards, and polyurethane foam boards, among which rock wool boards and glass wool are more widely applied.

Rock Wool Boards

Rock wool boards are one of the key materials for thermal insulation in container houses. They not only have good thermal insulation properties, effectively blocking heat transfer and improving the thermal insulation performance of the house, but also possess fire-resistant characteristics. In the temporary activity board houses at construction sites in the mountainous areas of Guizhou, when rock wool boards are installed in the middle of the walls of color-steel houses, the indoor temperature can be 8 - 10℃ higher than the outdoor temperature, making them very suitable as temporary dormitories or office spaces. Moreover, the use of rock wool boards makes the house body well-sealed. When combined with windproof strips on the windows, cold air can hardly get in. Using a small electric heater at night, the room can warm up within half an hour, eliminating the need to keep it on all day and saving a significant amount of electricity bills.

Glass Wool

Glass wool is also a commonly used wall filling material for thermal insulation, heat insulation, and sound insulation in container houses. It has the advantage of a low thermal conductivity. The thermal insulation effect of glass fiber thermal insulation cotton (heat insulation cotton, sound-absorbing cotton) with a thickness of 25mm - 100mm is equivalent to that of centrifugal glass wool with a thickness of 50mm using phenolic resin as a binder. With good thermal insulation performance, when its surface is processed and made into strips by bonding with aluminum foil, it can also be used for the thermal insulation and protection of hot and cold pipelines as well as underground pipelines.

Other Thermal Insulation Materials

In addition to the above two, polystyrene boards and polyurethane foam boards are also common thermal insulation and heat insulation materials. They also have low thermal conductivity and good thermal insulation properties, effectively blocking heat transfer and improving the thermal insulation performance of the house. In practical applications, appropriate thermal insulation cotton materials can be selected according to the specific needs and usage environment of the container house, or multiple materials can be combined to achieve better thermal insulation effects.
