Admin September 23, 2026

There are various cases of different types and backgrounds regarding the invention of mobile toilets, including products homemade by individuals and those professionally designed by designers.

Homemade Mobile Toilets

  • Made from a water storage tank: A young man, frustrated by his wife taking a long time in the bathroom, came up with the idea of using a water storage tank at home to make a mobile toilet. He used an angle grinder to split the tank in half lengthwise, fixed universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board for mobility, took wooden strips and fixed them with self-tapping screws on the upper side of the tank to increase the height, cut an opening on the side of the tank, installed sponge strips to form a door frame, inserted plastic soft boards to create raised walls, and placed the upper half of the tank on top of the wooden strips as a roof. He also installed indoor fixtures such as drilling holes to install a drain pipe to form a floor drain and installing a toilet and a water tank. This homemade mobile toilet is mainly based on personal temporary needs and is quickly built using common materials around. Although the construction is relatively crude, it can meet basic mobile toilet needs.
  • Made from a water storage tank and a pallet: Another young man, in a hurry to use the toilet while his wife was inside and unwilling to come out, took out a plastic pallet and fixed universal wheels at each of the four corners of the bottom of the pallet to make a simple mobile toilet. This method of construction is even simpler, using only a pallet and universal wheels, mainly to address the urgent need for temporary mobile toileting.

Professionally Designed Mobile Toilets

The portable toilet is a foldable and portable toileting device designed by German designer Eva Tint. It aims to solve the problem of inconvenient toileting in public places. It has a leaf-like appearance and is made of special environmentally friendly materials. When folded, it measures approximately 12×28 centimeters and can be stored in a woman's handbag, making it highly portable. The product is equipped with a super-absorbent agent inside that can convert liquid into a gel and prevent leakage, and the bottom is printed with usage instructions. This design first attracted the attention of football fans during the 2008 European Cup. In 2009, it was mass-produced by a German company and sold in the European market in sets of three at a price of 4.5 euros each. Initially, it was mainly targeted at female users to address the issue of long queues for public restrooms, but later expanded to scenarios such as car travel and outdoor gatherings. It comes with cleaning wipes for use and can be disposed of as ordinary garbage after use. With the expansion of application scenarios, it has gradually been accepted by more male users.
