Tanzania Mobile Toilet

Admin September 20, 2026

In the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, there are private mobile toilets available for paid use, which feature unique designs and usage methods.

Composition and Classification of Mobile Toilets

Private mobile toilets in Kilimanjaro are generally composed of fecal sewage storage tanks (or fecal sewage treatment devices), floor slabs, sanitary fixtures, walls, washing facilities, water tanks, roofs, and mobile devices. They have the significant advantages of being movable, combinable, and easy to transport, enabling them to adapt to the needs of different scenarios, especially in areas like Kilimanjaro with complex terrain and a possible lack of fixed sanitation facilities.

In terms of structural form, they can be divided into single-structure mobile toilets and composite-structure mobile toilets. The single-structure type is relatively simple and independent, while the composite-structure type may be composed of multiple parts and has more complex and diverse functions. According to the method of movement, there are lifting and handling-type mobile toilets, which usually require external equipment for movement; and powered and towed-type mobile toilets, which can be moved by power drive or towing, offering higher flexibility. In terms of sewage treatment methods, they are classified as water-flush and waterless-suction mobile toilets, circulating water-flush mobile toilets, and dry-packing mobile toilets. The water-flush type uses water to wash away excrement and keep the toilet clean; the waterless-suction type treats fecal sewage through a suction device; the circulating water-flush type can recycle water to save water resources; and the dry-packing type dry-packs the excrement for easy subsequent cleaning.

Usage Method of Mobile Toilets

The private mobile toilets used in Kilimanjaro are equipped with toilet paper and water. When using, first open the toilet bowl, after finishing excretion, roll the toilet paper into a ball and throw it into the small hole, then press repeatedly and forcefully to use the water pressure to flush away the excrement. This design takes into account both the convenience of use and the hygiene of the toilet as much as possible to meet the needs of users such as mountaineers.
