Taian Container House Design

Admin September 16, 2026

The design of container houses in Taian needs to integrate functional requirements, spatial planning, structural safety, and environmental adaptability. Common design considerations include unit layout combinations, lighting and insulation, courtyard layout, and compliant construction processes.

1. Unit Layout and Spatial Combination Design

The design of container houses should select assembly methods based on usage needs. Basic units can be formed by horizontally joining or staggered stacking 2-3 standard containers (6m × 3m × 2.8m) to create functional areas such as living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms. For example, connecting two containers can create an approximately 60㎡ single-story space with an integrated living and dining area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bathtub. If staggered design is used, the ground floor can be planned as a leisure courtyard or hallway to improve ventilation and lighting. For small units (e.g., 15㎡), it is recommended to use multifunctional furniture such as foldable beds and integrated cabinets to enhance space utilization.

2. Lighting and Insulation Performance Optimization

Container walls are made of metal, requiring design modifications to improve lighting and insulation. For lighting, large floor-to-ceiling windows, roof skylights, or glass partitions can be installed to enhance indoor transparency. For insulation, internal insulation layers (e.g., polyurethane foam boards) should be added to walls and roofs, and triple-glazed windows should be used to reduce heat transfer. Shading design can be achieved through roof eaves or terrace awnings to prevent excessive summer sun exposure and enrich the building's facade.

3. Courtyard and External Environment Integration

Container villa courtyards should focus on blending with the natural environment. Facade treatments can include paint spraying, thematic murals, or glass curtain walls to reduce industrial aesthetics. Independent foundation design elevates containers on pile foundations to prevent moisture and pests while facilitating site leveling. Courtyard layouts can incorporate greenery, pathways, or water features to create a comfortable living atmosphere.

4. Compliant Construction and Post-Construction Maintenance

Container houses are steel structures requiring strict adherence to approval processes. For rural homestead construction, structural drawing reviews and construction approvals must be obtained to avoid illegal construction risks. For leased land, only temporary structures are permitted, and contracts must specify usage nature. Post-construction maintenance focuses on the following:

  1. Rust prevention: Cut and welded areas should be sanded and painted with epoxy primer and topcoat, with re-coating required every 3-5 years in coastal areas.
  2. Waterproof sealing: Sealant around windows, doors, and container joints should be replaced regularly (every 5-7 years).
  3. Condensation prevention: Internal moisture accumulation should be minimized through insulation layers and ventilation design.
