Styling Tree and Landscape Tree Portable Toilet

Admin October 11, 2026

The Styling Tree and Landscape Tree Portable Toilet in Ziyang Park, Wuchang, Wuhan, is an innovative building that perfectly integrates functionality, landscape, and ecological protection. The following is an introduction from four aspects: design concept, ecological protection, appearance features, and functional configuration.

In terms of design concept, the team takes 'improving functionality, achieving landscape harmony, and prioritizing green protection' as the core direction. The public toilet is deeply integrated with the natural environment of the surrounding metasequoia forest, meeting practical needs while becoming a part of the landscape, achieving harmonious coexistence between architecture and nature.

Regarding ecological protection, great importance is attached to the protection of the original metasequoia forest during the renovation process. In the early stage, garden experts were invited to provide guidance. During construction, 20 metasequoias with an age of over 10 years were retained in their original positions, and fine operations were carried out to avoid damaging the tree roots. After completion, two metasequoias were cleverly incorporated into the open space inside the public toilet, forming a unique landscape of 'trees in the toilet', which not only retains ecological value but also enhances visual interest.

In terms of appearance features, the public toilet adopts perforated aluminum plate technology. The exterior wall is mainly white, and the texture of the metasequoia shadows is replicated through drilling holes in the aluminum plates, presenting a three-dimensional shape with varying heights. The exterior wall patterns simulate the shape of large trees and blend seamlessly with the surrounding metasequoia forest, creating a visually extended effect. One wall of the men's restroom is designed as fully transparent glass, directly facing a metasequoia, allowing users to enjoy the natural scenery up close while ensuring privacy through a reasonable layout.

Regarding functional configuration, the public toilet focuses on humanization and intelligence. It is equipped with hand sanitizer, a solar-powered constant-temperature water system, and offers free paper-dispensing services via QR code scanning. An air quality monitor is installed to monitor indoor air 24 hours a day. When odors or substandard air quality are detected, the fresh air system and dust removal equipment automatically start to ensure fresh air. In addition, there are also third restrooms and母婴室 (nursing rooms). The third restroom has a spacious space and good lighting, specially designed for the elderly, children, and people with mobility impairments. The nursing room is well-equipped, providing convenience for parents with infants. These designs fully reflect consideration for the needs of different groups of people.
