Spring Festival Portable Toilets
During the Spring Festival, the application of portable toilets presents diverse scenarios, covering urban scenic spots, temple fairs, and rural areas, meeting peak-period toilet demands through flexible deployment and technological innovation.

Urban Scenic Spots: Flexible Adjustments Ensure Experience
During the Spring Festival temple fair at Ditan Park, to cope with the surge in tourists, multiple temporary portable toilets were urgently installed. One of them blocked the popular “Ditan Sea View” spot, drawing complaints from tourists. The park management responded promptly by relocating it 10 meters away, preserving the toilet's service function while avoiding obstructing tourists' photo views. This case highlights the flexibility of portable toilets—they can be quickly repositioned based on actual needs, balancing functionality with scenic harmony. Additionally, the addition of portable toilets effectively alleviated the queuing pressure at traditional fixed toilets, enhancing the tourist experience.
Temple Fair Activities: Standardized Services and Smart Management
The Xiangyang Temple Fair introduced a “door-to-door delivery” service for temporary toilets, covering a 3-kilometer radius around major venues like the Ancient City and Tang City. The service adopts standardized configurations: one standard portable toilet (including water and electricity connections) is provided for every 500 tourists. After booking 24 hours in advance, the toilets are delivered and installed within 3 hours, equipped with dedicated cleaning and disinfection staff and a smart monitoring system. During the 2023 Spring Festival, over 200 portable toilets were deployed, serving more than 300,000 people with a 92% satisfaction rate. This model achieves efficient coverage of toilet services during peak periods through accurate demand forecasting, rapid response mechanisms, and intelligent management, providing a replicable solution for large-scale events.
Rural Areas: Portable Equipment Addresses Return-Home Challenges
To meet the toilet demands brought by the Spring Festival return-home rush, rural areas adopted portable toilets and other simple equipment. These devices are small, easy to transport, and require no complex installation, allowing for quick deployment and effectively alleviating the shortage of fixed toilets in rural areas. Their design emphasizes practicality and convenience, such as sealed designs to reduce odors or detachable water tanks for easy cleaning, adapting to the weak infrastructure in rural areas.
Procurement and Management: Open Bidding Ensures Quality
The Dujiangyan Scenic Area plans to lease portable toilets through open bidding for the 2026 Spring Festival, explicitly requiring service providers to have independent legal person status and qualifications for installing environmental sanitation public facilities. The registration period is from January 23 to 27, 2026. This measure ensures the quality and service standards of portable toilets through a standardized procurement process, providing reliable guarantees for scenic area tourists.
