Sound Insulation Renovation of Container Houses

Admin September 15, 2026

Sound insulation renovation of container houses can be achieved through measures such as adding sound-insulating and shock-absorbing sealing layers, selecting broken-bridge aluminum double-glazed windows and doors, filling with high-density sound-insulating materials, optimizing the connection of the container body structure, and sealing gaps.

1. Wall and Ceiling Sound Insulation Treatment
Ordinary iron-sheet containers have poor sound insulation performance and require the addition of sound-insulating and shock-absorbing sealing layers on the walls and ceilings. For example, use high-density sound-insulating rock wool (with a thickness of no less than 75mm) to fill the wall cavities. Its thermal conductivity is lower than 0.04W/(m·K), which can both insulate heat and absorb sound waves. If space permits, sound-insulating panels (such as polyester fiber sound-absorbing panels) can be installed on the outer layer of the rock wool to form a double-layer sound insulation structure of "blocking + absorbing". For the ceiling, elastic hooks can be used to fix the keels to reduce vibration transmission, and then sound-insulating cotton and gypsum boards can be laid.

2. Window and Door Sound Insulation Optimization
Windows and doors are weak points for sound insulation and need to be replaced with broken-bridge aluminum double-glazed windows and doors (such as 5mm glass + 12mm air gap + 5mm glass), whose sound insulation performance can reach over 35 decibels. If the budget is limited, sealing strips (such as ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber strips) can be installed at the gaps of the original windows and doors, and sound-insulating felt can be used to wrap the window frames to reduce sound leakage.

3. Container Body Structure Reinforcement
The connection points of the container body are prone to generating noise due to vibrations and need to be inspected and reinforced to ensure structural stability. Horizontal support beams can be installed inside the container body to reduce resonance; if multiple containers are stacked, rubber shock-absorbing pads should be laid between the layers to isolate vibration transmission.

4. Gap Sealing Treatment
All panel joints, window and door closures, and roof拼接 (splicing) positions should be fully sealed with weather-resistant sealant to ensure there are no breaks. For example, use polyurethane sealant to fill the gaps. Its elasticity can adapt to the thermal expansion and contraction of the container body to avoid cracking. In rainy southern regions, a reasonable drainage slope (≥2%) should also be designed on the roof to prevent water accumulation and infiltration.

5. Floor Sound Insulation Measures
If the container is in direct contact with the ground, moisture and noise can easily be transmitted through the bottom. A 50mm-thick extruded polystyrene board (XPS) can be laid under the container body as a thermal and sound insulation layer, and then a concrete cushion can be poured, which not only prevents moisture but also reduces the transmission of footsteps.
