Songjiang Container House Construction
In the construction of container houses in Songjiang, it is crucial to focus on legality, design and construction standards, and safety risk prevention and control.

In terms of legality, there have been multiple cases in Songjiang where unauthorized container house construction has led to illegal building disposals. For example, the urban management team in Chedun discovered unauthorized container house renovations in a parking lot near Xiangting Road. Due to issues such as haphazard electrical wiring, unauthorized water connections, and safety hazards, these structures were ultimately demolished. Similarly, the Shihudang urban management team, in collaboration with multiple departments, demolished an 18-square-meter container activity room that had been built on a public basketball court. Such actions not only infringe upon public interests but also pose safety risks to occupants. This indicates that container house construction must undergo the necessary approval procedures in accordance with the law; otherwise, it will face the risk of demolition.
Regarding design and construction standards, it is essential to adhere to modular building standards. The Shanghai Container Building Complex, designed by Shanghai Jiku Architectural Modular Co., Ltd., was constructed using 30 discarded shipping containers. Covering an area of approximately 900 square meters, it spans two floors and includes functional areas such as offices and capsule hotels. The interior decoration follows five-star hotel standards, with a construction cost of approximately 4,000 yuan per square meter (including decoration). This case demonstrates that container house construction can adopt modular design, enabling rapid assembly through standardized components to improve construction efficiency. However, it is crucial to ensure that key indicators such as structural load-bearing capacity, fire resistance, and waterproofing lifespan meet standards. The "Container House Quality Acceptance Standards" issued by the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization specify 12 quantitative acceptance indicators, providing specific guidelines for construction.
In terms of safety risk prevention and control, it is vital to focus on electrical safety, fire safety, and structural stability. In cases of illegal construction, container houses often exhibit issues such as haphazard electrical wiring and poor ventilation, which can easily lead to fires and electric shocks. During construction, electrical wiring should be installed in a standardized manner, qualified electrical equipment should be selected, and independent distribution boxes should be installed. Fire safety facilities such as fire extinguishers should be equipped, and evacuation routes should be kept clear. The container structure should be reinforced to prevent collapse due to excessive loads or foundation settlement.
