Small Freeze-Proof Mobile Toilet Design
The design of a small freeze-proof mobile toilet requires comprehensive optimization in terms of structural materials, system protection, energy heating, and mobility to ensure stable operation in extreme low temperatures of -30℃.

1. Structural and Material Freeze-Proof Design
- Water Tank and Pipe Insulation: Wrap the water tank and water supply/drainage pipes with rubber-plastic insulation cotton, polyurethane foam boards, or glass wool to reduce heat loss. Wind self-regulating electric heating tapes around the inner or outer walls of the pipes and maintain a temperature of 5-15℃ using a thermostat to prevent freezing.
- Fecal Storage Tank Freeze-Proofing: Design a double-layer structure with foamed polyurethane insulation material filled in between. Tilt the bottom by 10-15° to facilitate the natural flow of excreta and reduce the risk of residual freezing. Install low-power heating rods or heating films inside to maintain a temperature above 0℃ and equip with anti-dry burning protection devices.
- Partition and Door Sealing: Use inward-opening or automatic rebound doors and install rubber sealing strips in the door gaps. Select PVC boards or composite wood boards (with a thermal conductivity coefficient < 0.03W/m·K) for partitions to reduce the conduction efficiency of cold air.
2. System Protection Measures
- Water Supply System: Place the independent water tank indoors or in a sunlit area and add ethylene glycol antifreeze to lower the freezing point. Empty the water tank and pipe water during nighttime or long-term disuse.
- Sewage Disposal System: Adopt vacuum sewage disposal technology to quickly empty excreta through negative pressure. Use pulse flushing to reduce waste adhesion. Wrap the sewage outlet with insulation material and install heating tapes.
- Ventilation System: Install exhaust fans with temperature sensors to automatically reduce speed or shut off at low temperatures. Install adjustable louvers at the air inlets and close some openings in winter to reduce cold air influx.
3. Energy and Heating Solutions
- Solar Power Supply: Use solar panels + batteries to power the electric heating tapes and heating rods. Alternatively, heat the water tank through solar collector tubes and equip with heat storage devices to cope with low temperatures at night.
- Diesel/Gas Heaters: Install small heaters to raise the internal temperature through hot air circulation and equip with carbon monoxide alarms and automatic flameout protection devices.
- Floor/Wall Heating Systems: Lay electric heating films or heating cables on the floor or walls to heat the space through low-temperature radiation and automatically adjust the power according to the ambient temperature.
4. Mobile Flexibility Design
Adopt a modular structure and use lightweight, high-strength alloys (such as aluminum alloy 6061-T6) for the main frame to facilitate quick assembly and disassembly. Install adjustable legs at the bottom to adapt to uneven ground. Equip with a towing device for transportation by vehicles to remote areas or temporary construction sites.
Through the above design, the small freeze-proof mobile toilet can achieve stable operation with "constant warmth and worry-free winters" in extreme low-temperature areas such as Hulunbuir.
