Admin September 16, 2026
The size standards for small container houses are mainly divided into two categories: standard sizes and non-standard customized sizes, as detailed below:

I. Standard Sizes (Industry Benchmark Models) Standard container houses are based on maritime shipping containers, with common specifications including:
- 20-foot Standard Container (20GP): External dimensions are 6058×2438×2591mm, internal dimensions are 5867×2330×2350mm, with an area of approximately 13.5 square meters, suitable for single-person offices, dormitories, or shops.
- 40-foot Standard Container (40GP): External dimensions are 12192×2438×2591mm, internal dimensions are 11998×2330×2350mm, with an area of approximately 28 square meters, which can be divided into multi-functional spaces or multi-person dormitories.
- 40-foot High Cube Container (40HQ): External dimensions are 12192×2438×2896mm, internal dimensions are 11998×2330×2655mm, with an increased height of 2.655 meters, suitable for exhibition halls or housing with height requirements.
II. Non-Standard Customized Sizes According to actual needs, the sizes of container houses can be flexibly adjusted, with common non-standard specifications including:
- Basic Modular Sizes:
- 3m×3m×2.8m (area of 9 square meters): Suitable for small temporary housing, but due to low material utilization, production usually requires explicit customer demand.
- 3m×6m×2.8m (area of 18 square meters): A mainstream specification for construction sites and road construction scenarios, with space for 6 bunk beds inside, accommodating 8 people with room for activities.
- 3m×7m×2.8m (area of 21 square meters): Often used for two-story container mobile homes, equipped with corridors and balconies.
- Extended Sizes:
- Width options include 2.5m, 2.55m, 3m, 4m, etc.; height options include 2.6m, 2.7m, 2.8m, 2.9m, etc.
- Length can be extended in multiples of 3m, such as 3m×8m, 3m×9m, 3m×12m, etc., with specifics to be determined through consultation with the manufacturer.
- Special Purpose Sizes:
- Frame Containers: Without a roof or side walls, with a thickened steel floor, capable of carrying up to 60 tons. Mainstream specifications are 20-foot (carrying capacity of 24.45 tons) and 40-foot (carrying capacity of 39.475 tons), suitable for transporting extra-long, extra-wide, and extra-heavy cargo.
- Open-Top Containers and Flat-Rack Containers: Open-top containers have an open top for easy loading, while flat-rack containers have a flat bottom suitable for transporting heavy equipment, with sizes varying by container type.
