Admin September 15, 2026
The following are the common size drawings and related specifications of small container houses:

I. International Standard Container Sizes
The dry containers (DRY CONTAINER) commonly used internationally mainly have the following specifications:
- 20-foot container: The external dimensions are 20x8x8 feet 6 inches, and the internal dimensions are 5898x2352x2390 millimeters, with a volume of approximately 33 cubic meters. After renovation, it is suitable for single people or small families to live in, and basic living spaces can be planned.
- 40-foot container: The external dimensions are 40x8x8 feet 6 inches, and the internal dimensions are 12024x2352x2390 millimeters, with a volume of approximately 67 cubic meters. After renovation, it can be designed as a layout with two bedrooms and one living room to meet the living needs of multiple people.
- 40-foot high cube container: The height is increased to 9 feet 6 inches, and the internal dimensions are 12024x2352x2690 millimeters, with a volume of approximately 76 cubic meters. It is suitable for designs that require higher ceiling heights, such as houses with lofts or high-ceilinged living rooms.
II. Domestic General Container House Sizes
- Standard type: It is 6 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 2.9 meters high, with an area of 18 square meters. This is the most common specification for domestic construction sites, temporary events, and other scenarios. It can be quickly set up as dormitories, offices, or commercial exhibition spaces.
- Compact type: It is 3 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 2.8 meters high, with an area of 9 square meters. It is suitable for scenarios with extremely small space requirements, such as single-person temporary residences or storage rooms.
- Extended type: It is 7 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 2.8 meters high, with an area of 21 square meters. It is often used for two-story container houses. By stacking or splicing, a larger space can be achieved, and functional areas such as corridors and balconies can be added.
III. Customized Sizes
According to customer needs, the size of container houses can be flexibly adjusted. For example:
- Width extension: By splicing multiple containers, the width can be extended from the standard 3 meters to 6 meters, 9 meters, etc.
- Length adjustment: By cutting or extending the main body of the container, non-standard lengths (such as 5 meters, 8 meters, etc.) can be achieved.
- Height customization: By combining high cube container designs or adding mezzanines, specific ceiling height requirements can be met.
