Sliding Door Toilet Renovation

Admin October 11, 2026

Sliding door toilet renovation should combine functional requirements with spatial characteristics, achieving a balance between practicality and aesthetics through scientific planning. The specific steps and key points are as follows:

1. Clarify renovation motives and material selection The core objectives of renovation are usually to improve space utilization or optimize lighting conditions. If the original toilet space is cramped, sliding doors can reduce the space occupied when traditional swing doors are opened. If lighting is insufficient, translucent materials (such as frosted glass) can be used to enhance light penetration. Materials need to be waterproof and moisture-resistant. It is recommended to use aluminum alloy frames (highly corrosion-resistant), tempered glass (high safety), or stainless steel fittings (easy to clean). The recommended door panel thickness is 8-12 millimeters, which can ensure structural stability without adding excessive weight to the track.

2. Standardize the renovation construction process

  • Remove the old door: Use an electric screwdriver or manual screwdriver to dismantle the original door frame and hardware. Be careful to protect the wall tiles or paint and avoid violent removal that could damage the base layer.
  • Install the door frame: Snap positioning lines around the door opening to ensure the door frame is level and vertical. When fixing the door frame with steel nails, space them 30-50 centimeters apart. After installation, use a level to correct any deviations ≤ 2 millimeters.
  • Fix the wheel boxes: Install the upper wheel box in the middle of the top of the door frame and the lower wheel box on the inner side of the bottom of the door panel. After pushing in the door panel, adjust the height of the wheels so that the top is slightly higher than the door frame by 1-2 millimeters to ensure smooth sliding.
  • Adjust the opening and closing angles: By rotating the adjustment screws on the wheel boxes, control the movement range of the door panel to avoid collisions with the wall or sanitary ware. The movement range of the baffle should have a buffer of 5-10 centimeters reserved according to the actual space.
  • Install hardware: The height of the door handle should be 90-110 centimeters (ergonomic). The door lock should be waterproof. When installing, use screws that match the thickness of the door panel to avoid loosening.

3. Optimize space and lighting design

  • Space utilization: If the toilet area is ≥ 5 square meters, a thin wall (thickness ≤ 12 centimeters) can be built on the side of a non-load-bearing wall to embed niches or open storage shelves. If the space is compact, avoid using wide-column door frames and prioritize ultra-narrow frames (width ≤ 3 centimeters) to reduce visual oppression.
  • Lighting compensation: Sliding doors will block some natural light. LED mirror front lights or moisture-proof spotlights (color temperature 4000-5000K) should be added above the sink area and toilet to ensure an illumination level of ≥ 300 lux on the operating surface.

4. Long-term maintenance and care Clean the surface of the door panel and the dust in the track with a soft cloth every week. Apply silicone-based lubricant to the track every month (avoid using greasy lubricants that attract dust). Regularly check whether the screws on the wheel boxes are loose and whether the elasticity of the door lock spring is normal. If any problems are found, adjust or replace the parts in a timely manner.
