Simple Portable Toilet for Home Indoor Use

Admin October 02, 2026

There are several feasible solutions for a simple portable toilet for home indoor use:

Solution 1: Portable Commode This solution focuses on practicality and is specifically designed for the elderly, pregnant women, or people with mobility issues. Its main body is a deep commode bucket structure, with a depth about 20%-30% greater than that of an ordinary commode bucket, effectively preventing the splashing of excrement. The bucket is equipped with a handle for easy carrying and cleaning. The top features a sealed lid design, which can completely isolate odors when closed, preventing indoor air pollution. Such commodes are usually made of lightweight plastic materials, with a weight controlled within 5kg. Anti-slip pads or universal wheels can be installed at the bottom to balance stability and mobility requirements. Some high-end models are also equipped with soft cushions and backrests to enhance user comfort.

Solution 2: DIY Mobile Bathroom from a Water Storage Tank This solution achieves multi-functional integration through DIY and requires a certain level of hands-on ability. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Structural Modification: Select a plastic water storage tank with a diameter of 50-60cm. Use an angle grinder to cut it in half along the central axis, keeping the half with the tank opening as the main body.
  2. Mobile System: Install universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board and fix it to the outside of the tank body with wooden strips to form a mobile base.
  3. Walls and Roof: Cut a door opening on the side of the tank body, insert sponge strips to form a door frame, and cover the outside with plastic soft boards as walls. Invert the upper half of the tank onto the top of the wooden strips as the roof and apply white waterproof paint on the surface to enhance aesthetics.
  4. Functional Integration: Drill a hole at the bottom of the tank to install a drain pipe to form a floor drain. Connect a three-way joint on the side to connect a showerhead (requiring an external water source), a toilet tank, and a sink inlet pipe respectively. A simple water storage device (such as a plastic bucket) can be installed on the top for flushing. This solution can realize functions such as using the toilet, washing up, and taking a simple shower, but attention should be paid to waterproofing and space ventilation.

Solution 3: Bedside Mobile Toilet (Independent Spittoon Type) Designed for nighttime bathroom needs, it is compact in size (height about 40-50cm, diameter 30-40cm) and can be placed directly beside the bed. Its core structure is an openable design: In the closed state, it is a closed spittoon with a smooth inner wall and an anti-stick coating inside for easy cleaning. When opened, it can be used as an independent commode, with a detachable collection bucket at the bottom for direct carrying and cleaning. Some models are also equipped with night light functions and silent slow-closing lids to reduce interference during nighttime use. This solution does not require complex installation and is suitable for small spaces or temporary use scenarios.
