Simple Container House Design

Admin September 16, 2026

The design of simple container houses requires comprehensive consideration of aspects such as structure, functionality, installation, and decoration. Here are the specific design points:

Structural Design

  • Specification Selection: Common specifications include 20-foot and 40-foot standard containers, which can be used individually or combined based on needs. For example, combining two containers can create a single-story house of about 100 square meters, including functional areas such as a living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom.
  • Structural Types: There are two types: welded integral containers and bolt-connected modular containers. Welded containers are formed by factory welding, with a direct load path and strong resistance to deformation, suitable for frequent lifting and moving. Modular containers use standard panels connected by bolts, with multiple load-bearing nodes. When purchasing, check the steel wall thickness of the columns and bottom beams, commonly ranging from 1.5 mm to 3 mm. Thicker walls provide greater load redundancy but also increase self-weight.
  • Expansion Design: Side or end expansion modules can be added to the container, increasing usable area by 30%-50% when expanded, suitable for long-term on-site office use with higher space comfort requirements.

Functional Design

  • Spatial Layout: Reasonably divide areas based on usage scenarios and the number of people. For example, office scenarios can have independent workstations, small meeting tables, and multiple storage spaces; living scenarios can include a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom.
  • Facility Allocation: Equip corresponding facilities based on functional needs. For example, office scenarios require office desks, chairs, and file cabinets; living scenarios need beds, wardrobes, kitchenware, and bathroom fixtures.

Installation Design

  • Ground Preparation: Clear the ground of loose soil and debris, compact the original soil layer to provide a uniform load-bearing foundation for the container house, preventing uneven settlement caused by local pressure, which can lead to door and window deformation and wall cracks.
  • Installation Methods: Can be installed by integral lifting or on-site assembly. Integral lifting is fast but requires professional lifting equipment; on-site assembly offers high flexibility but takes longer.

Decoration Design

  • Wall Materials: Choose materials such as wall panels or wood-grain finishes to meet different scenario needs. For example, a simple style is suitable for construction site dormitories, while a high-end homestay style can include ceiling decorations and wooden floors.
  • Door and Window Design: Use large glass doors and windows to increase indoor lighting and views. For example, install large floor-to-ceiling windows and roof skylights, and choose triple-glazed windows, which provide better insulation than brick walls, keeping the house warm in winter and cool in summer.
  • Simultaneous Interior and Exterior Customization: Most interior decoration work is completed in the factory, reducing on-site construction. Customers can select wall materials, floor styles, and lighting fixtures. After delivery to the site, simple water and electricity connections allow immediate occupancy for office use.
