Siheyuan Prefabricated House
There are cases where siheyuan (traditional Chinese courtyard houses) adopt prefabricated house forms, but there are certain issues and differences compared to traditional siheyuan.

Case of prefabricated siheyuan houses: A siheyuan with an area of 706 square meters was built using a prefabricated method. However, this prefabricated siheyuan has layout problems and has been criticized for resembling dormitory buildings. During the construction process, there was an excessive focus on building square grids while neglecting the inclusion of entertainment facilities. Although its appearance is relatively attractive, the internal living experience is poor. This indicates that when applying prefabricated house forms to siheyuan construction, if the living functions and layout rationality are not fully considered, even if the appearance meets certain requirements, it is difficult to provide a comfortable living environment.
Application of prefabricated houses in other residential renovations: The renovation of Building 28 in Sanlihe District 1, Beijing, adopted a prefabricated building (prefabricated house) solution. Although it is not a traditional siheyuan in the strict sense, this case demonstrates the feasibility of prefabricated houses in the field of residential renovation. By adopting a prefabricated house solution, the renovation increased the building area and added elderly-friendly facilities, enhancing the functionality and suitability of the residence and providing better living conditions for residents. This provides valuable references and insights for the application of prefabricated house forms in residential construction.
Characteristics of traditional Beijing siheyuan: Traditional Beijing siheyuan are high-end traditional Chinese courtyard-style buildings with unique architectural forms and cultural connotations. They are enclosed courtyard residences formed by the surrounding of the main house, east and west wing rooms, and the reversed sitting room. This layout not only reflects traditional Chinese family concepts and living culture but also features exquisite designs in terms of architectural structure and space utilization, such as reasonable lighting, ventilation, and clear functional divisions among different rooms. Compared to prefabricated siheyuan, traditional siheyuan place greater emphasis on living comfort and cultural heritage.
