Sichuan Characteristic Mobile Toilets

Admin October 13, 2026

Sichuan's characteristic mobile toilets are reflected in five major aspects: scenic area layout, urban management, rural revitalization, intelligent upgrading, and type selection.

Scenic Area and Public Place Layout Features: In popular scenic spots in Sichuan, such as Jiuzhaigou and Emei Mountain, mobile toilets have become standard facilities. Their design emphasizes practicality and safety, equipped with anti-slip floors, ventilation systems, and odor control devices. Some also include barrier-free facilities to enhance the user experience. Over 2,000 sets of mobile toilets have been deployed in key scenic spots across the province, with an average of one set every 500 meters, meeting the daily demand of up to 100,000 people during peak hours and effectively alleviating toilet pressure during the tourist season.

Urban Management Application Features: In cities like Chengdu and Mianyang, mobile toilets have become important tools for large-scale events and urban renewal. For example, during the 2025 Chengdu Universiade, the city added 1,200 sets of intelligent mobile toilets, using technologies such as sensor flushing and remote monitoring to ensure hygiene and safety. In the renovation of old residential areas, mobile toilets serve as a transitional solution, addressing toilet needs during construction and demonstrating a combination of flexibility and functionality.

Rural Revitalization Construction Features: In the development of rural tourism in Sichuan, 'ecological mobile toilets' have become a highlight. Through fecal-sewage separation technology, wastewater is reused, and over 300 eco-friendly toilets have been built in areas such as Liangshan Prefecture and Aba Prefecture. These facilities not only protect the natural environment but also enhance the tourist experience through odorless and easy-to-maintain designs, promoting the sustainable development of rural tourism.

Intelligent Upgrading Features: Internet of Things (IoT) technology is gradually being applied to the management of mobile toilets. Smart guidance screens are set up around some subway stations in Chengdu to display toilet occupancy in real-time, and mobile apps allow users to check the location and usage status of nearby toilets. Additionally, green technologies such as solar power and rainwater harvesting reduce energy consumption, driving the transition to low-carbon facilities. For example, some scenic spot toilets achieve self-sufficiency through solar panels.

Type Selection Features: Mobile toilets in Chengdu come in various types to suit different scenarios. Foam-sealed toilets, which cover excrement with foam to eliminate the need for flushing, are the most eco-friendly and suitable for scenic parks. Mechanically packaged toilets automatically wrap excrement in film, offering convenient operation and are commonly found at construction sites or picnic areas. Water-flush direct-discharge toilets have strong flushing power and are suitable for commercial area renovations. Simple single-squat toilets are cost-effective (about 2,500 yuan) and can be quickly deployed at temporary events.
