Shipping Container Office
A shipping container office is a modular office space transformed from standard shipping containers, featuring rapid deployment, cost control, and high mobility, suitable for temporary offices, operations in remote areas, and other scenarios.

Structural Features
Container offices use standard shipping containers (20-foot or 40-foot) as basic units. Through modifications such as cutting, window installation, and door installation, insulation layers, fireproof layers, water and electricity pipelines, and air conditioning network interfaces are added to form independent office modules. Their core advantage lies in modular design: multiple containers can be horizontally joined or vertically stacked to create composite spaces. For example, the three-story office building at the COSCO Shipping Nantong Shipyard combines 48 6-meter standard containers with 48 14-meter extended containers to meet load-bearing requirements and optimize spatial layout. Some projects adopt lightweight design, using 6mm steel plate bending instead of traditional heavy square tubes to reduce steel usage, lower transportation costs, and enhance the simplicity and structural stability of the building facade.
Construction Methods and Advantages
Factory prefabrication is employed, with integrated welding completed in the factory before transportation to the site for hoisting and assembly, significantly reducing on-site construction work. For example, the Nantong project completed building construction in just 11 days, shortening the construction period by 60%-80% compared to traditional buildings. In terms of cost, depending on the material and decoration standards, the price of a single container ranges from 5,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan (excluding transportation and installation). A 20-foot simple office costs about 12,000 yuan, while a 40-foot fully furnished office (including an independent bathroom and air conditioning) can reach 40,000 yuan. Additionally, container offices can be transported as a whole and reused, resulting in high asset utilization. The main materials are recycled from used containers, aligning with green building concepts. During demolition, there is less construction waste, and construction noise and waste are significantly lower than those of traditional buildings.
Application Scenarios and Purchase Considerations
Suitable for temporary offices at construction sites, reception centers for exhibition events, low-cost office spaces in startup parks, and operational bases in remote areas. When purchasing, pay attention to the following:
- Container Material: Prioritize fully steel, ISO-certified used freight containers to avoid "fake containers" with insufficient strength;
- Thermal Insulation: Ensure the addition of thermal insulation rock wool or polyurethane sandwich panels to prevent extreme temperatures from affecting usage;
- Electrical Safety: Require a formal electrical design diagram, with wires running through flame-retardant tubes and equipped with leakage protection switches;
- Structural Reinforcement: When stacking more than two layers, confirm the structural reinforcement of the bottom containers and the firmness of the connecting components to prevent collapse risks.
