A shipping container is a six-sided rectangular box made of a frame structure, two side walls, one end wall, a roof, a floor, and a pair of doors (with defined roof and side-panel thickness). We usually call this box a container. On a standard ocean shipping container, the side panels are 1.6 mm weathering steel, and the roof and floor panels are 2.0 mm.

A standard ocean shipping container roof is made of five-wave round-head large roof sheets: thickness 2.0 mm, width 1,045 mm, length 2,356 mm. A 20-foot container uses 5 roof sheets; a 40-foot container uses 11.

Roof corrugation: 12 mm × 93 mm × 12 mm = 117 mm; corrugation center spacing 210 mm; wave depth 20 mm.

Standard ocean shipping container side panels are 1.6 mm thick. Side-panel size: width 1,116 mm, length 2,350 mm (standard height) / 2,650 mm (high cube).

Side-panel wave width 208 mm, wave depth 36 mm. A 20-foot standard container uses 10 sheets per side; a 40-foot standard container uses 21 sheets per side.
