Shenzhen Book Fair Smart Mobile Toilet
The smart mobile toilet at the Shenzhen Book Fair is an epidemic-prevention-oriented, intelligent, and environmentally friendly mobile public restroom, independently designed and developed by the team led by Academician Meng Jianmin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It features efficient epidemic prevention, low-carbon environmental protection, comprehensive facilities, and rapid installation.

I. Design, Development, and Patents
This series of public restrooms is primarily designed by Academician Meng Jianmin's team and has applied for 34 patents, including 12 invention patents, 20 utility model patents, and 3 design patents, reflecting the combination of technological innovation and intellectual property protection.
II. Spatial Layout and Facility Configuration
- Basic Toilet Cubicle: Covering less than 2 square meters, it integrates facilities such as an air conditioner, sensor-activated handwashing station, disposable toilet seat covers, hand soap, hand dryer, tissue paper, hooks, and a trash bin. Some functions are operated through sensor technology to enable contactless operation and reduce the risk of cross-infection.
- Baby Care Room: With a space of nearly 4 square meters, it can accommodate 1 adult and 3 children. It is equipped with free diapers, an automatic exhaust-ventilated diaper-changing table, a concealed toilet, baby seats, adult seats, hot and cold water supply, charging sockets, and bottle sterilization and drying equipment. Night lighting enhances convenience of use.
III. Epidemic Prevention and Environmental Protection Functions
- Efficient Disinfection System: After each use, the system automatically performs nano-mist disinfection inside the public restroom, covering water supply, sewage, and storage equipment to achieve virus阻断 (virus blockage) in enclosed environments.
- Air Purification Technology: The interior walls use photocatalyst panels to decompose ammonia and nitrogen, inhibiting bacterial growth; a negative-pressure fresh air system works in conjunction with a patented deodorizer, and a through-type deodorization module ensures that the exhausted air is fresh and odorless.
- Low-Carbon Environmental Design: Integrated sewage storage equipment reduces water consumption, and the enclosed disinfection function decreases the use of chemical agents, aligning with sustainable development principles.
IV. Installation Efficiency and Application Scenarios
The public restroom can be installed within 3 hours, meeting the needs of short-term, high-traffic scenarios such as the Shenzhen Book Fair. It has a maximum daily usage rate of 250 people per cubicle. In addition to areas around the book city, it has also been deployed at vaccination sites in Nanshan and Luohu districts and other public places, demonstrating its flexibility and practicality.
V. Appearance and User Experience
The public restroom has a simple appearance, resembling a refrigerator, with clear signage and strong isolation. It meets functional requirements while also considering harmony with the urban landscape. The user-friendly design of interior facilities, such as sensor-activated operations and comprehensive baby care room amenities, significantly enhances user comfort and hygiene and safety levels.
