I. International Standard Container Sizes

  1. 20-foot General Purpose Container (20GP)
The external dimensions are 20 feet (6.096 meters) in length × 8 feet (2.438 meters) in width × 8.5 feet (2.59 meters) in height, with an internal volume of approximately 33 cubic meters and a load-bearing capacity of 25 tons. It is suitable for single or double occupancy and can be equipped with basic living facilities.

  2. 40-foot General Purpose Container (40GP)
The external dimensions are 40 feet (12.192 meters) in length × 8 feet (2.438 meters) in width × 8.5 feet (2.59 meters) in height, with an internal volume of approximately 67 cubic meters and a load-bearing capacity of 45 tons. The space can be divided into office areas, rest areas, or multi-person dormitories.

  3. 40-foot High Cube Container (40HQ)
The external dimensions are 40 feet (12.192 meters) in length × 8 feet (2.438 meters) in width × 9.5 feet (2.89 meters) in height, with an increased internal height of 0.3 meters and a volume of approximately 76 cubic meters. It is suitable for scenarios requiring higher ceiling heights, such as designs with lofts or the installation of ceiling-mounted equipment.

II. Common Domestic Container Mobile Home Sizes

  1. Standard Size (3 meters × 6 meters)
It is 6 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 2.8-2.9 meters high, with an area of approximately 18 square meters and an internal clear height of 2.6 meters. It can accommodate furniture such as double beds, desks, and wardrobes, meeting basic living needs. Moreover, it is easy to hoist and transport, making it the 'golden ratio' size for construction site offices and temporary residences.

  2. Combined and Extended Sizes
By combining them vertically or horizontally, they can be extended to sizes such as 40-foot containers (12 meters × 3 meters) and 60-foot containers (18 meters × 3 meters). For example, after combining two 40-foot container homes, the dimensions are 11.8 meters × 6.75 meters × 2.8 meters, with a usable area of up to 80 square meters, suitable for multi-room dormitories or office complexes.

III. Special-Purpose Container Sizes

  1. Open-Top Containers
The internal volume of a 20-foot open-top container is 5.89 meters × 2.32 meters × 2.31 meters, and that of a 40-foot open-top container is 12.01 meters × 2.33 meters × 2.15 meters. The open-top design facilitates the hoisting of large equipment and is suitable for material storage on construction sites or temporary exhibitions.

  2. Flat-Rack Containers
The internal volume of a 20-foot flat-rack container is 5.85 meters × 2.23 meters × 2.15 meters, and that of a 40-foot flat-rack container is 12.05 meters × 2.12 meters × 1.96 meters. The threshold-free design at the bottom facilitates the entry and exit of heavy machinery and is commonly used in industrial warehousing or equipment maintenance workshops.
