Shangyou Container House Design
Admin September 16, 2026
The design of container houses in Shangyou requires comprehensive consideration of spatial layout, structural safety, lighting, insulation, aesthetic appearance, and compliance, combined with modular combinations and functional requirements for customized design.

1. Spatial Layout and Modular Combinations
The design of container houses should select the splicing method based on functional requirements:
- Single-level layout: Horizontally splicing 2-3 containers can create a space of approximately 100 square meters that integrates a living and dining area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bathtub, suitable for family living.
- Split-level design: Stacking containers vertically can create a three-dimensional spatial hierarchy, with a courtyard or aisle area left on the ground floor to improve ventilation and lighting, suitable for villas or vacation scenarios.
- Small-unit optimization: For spaces below 15 square meters, it is recommended to use multi-functional furniture such as folding beds and integrated cabinets to enhance space utilization.
2. Structural Safety and Material Selection
- Structural stability: It is necessary to ensure that the container frame meets building load-bearing requirements, and the corner fittings, as the only stacking force transmission points, must be intact and reliable. Spot welding is prohibited as a substitute.
- Material selection: Steel containers are commonly used, while aluminum alloy is lighter but more expensive. For enclosure filling, flammable materials such as EPS are prohibited, and A-grade rock wool or glass wool should be used in crowded places.
- Seismic and fire resistance: The design must comply with standards of seismic fortification ≤ 8 degrees, number of floors ≤ 6, and height ≤ 24 meters, and be equipped with fire-resistant coatings, escape routes, and fire-fighting equipment.
3. Lighting, Insulation, and Ventilation
- Lighting optimization: Install large floor-to-ceiling windows, roof skylights, or glass partitions to enhance indoor transparency.
- Insulation treatment: Add internal insulation layers to walls/roofs and select triple-glazed windows for warmth in winter and heat insulation in summer.
- Ventilation design: Reduce condensation and prevent water dripping on walls through high windows, exhaust fans, or natural ventilation openings.
4. Aesthetic Appearance and Environmental Integration
- Facade treatment: Use paint spraying, themed spray painting, cladding, or glass curtain walls to break away from the industrial feel and create a personalized appearance.
- Courtyard design: Combine with a natural courtyard layout, with containers elevated on pile foundations for moisture and insect resistance and easy site leveling.
5. Compliance and Approval Process
- Land nature: Rural homesteads require building approval and structural drawings; cultivated land and basic farmland are prohibited from construction, and forestry approval is required for forest land.
- Leased land: It is limited to temporary use, and the contract must specify the nature of use to avoid the risk of illegal construction.
