Shanghai Sanitation Mobile Toilets
Shanghai has implemented various measures and improvements in the field of sanitation mobile toilets, covering aspects such as public toilet upgrades, renovations, corporate participation, and rentals.

In terms of public toilet upgrades, seven mobile public toilets on Haitong Road and Meihua Road in Pudong New Area, as well as at the intersection of Century Avenue and Weifang Road, have been renovated. These toilets feature soft color schemes with light beige and light brown as the base colors, complemented by dark blue borders and local accents, making them easily identifiable and more attractive. In high-traffic areas, barrier-free access and stainless steel handrails have been added. The regular toilet stalls are fully equipped and simply decorated, creating "age-friendly and child-friendly" stalls. Auxiliary handrails are installed next to the toilets, and the children's toilet areas have dedicated designs. The electronic screens on the stall doors display real-time usage status. The mobile public toilet at the intersection of Century Avenue and Weifang Road also includes a dedicated "Sanitation Workers' Lounge" for sanitation workers, equipped with facilities such as refrigerators, showers, microwaves, and charging ports, with plans to expand coverage.
Regarding public toilet renovations, the "Age-Friendly and Child-Friendly Renovation of Sanitation Public Toilets" was listed as a practical project for the people in Shanghai in 2023. By the end of October 2023, 2,631 sanitation public toilets had been renovated, exceeding the target. The renovations focus on four major categories and 30 details, including "safe passage, assisted walking, independent toileting, and service optimization," such as installing barrier-free handrails for the elderly, laying anti-slip floor tiles, optimizing lighting, and setting up low-level sinks and child-sized toilets for children, as well as adding anti-collision corners. Before renovations, on-site surveys are conducted, following the principle of "one toilet, one plan." Currently, most sanitation public toilets that are eligible for renovation have been completed, accounting for about 87% of the total. For the remaining toilets restricted by objective conditions, age-friendly and child-friendly elements will be considered during future major renovations or reconstructions.
In terms of corporate participation, Shanghai Huajie Ecological Environment Engineering Co., Ltd. specializes in the research and development, production, sales, and leasing of mobile toilets and other sanitation facilities. Its product range includes nine types of mobile toilets and multi-material sanitation equipment, with its eco-friendly toilets capable of achieving harmless and resource-based treatment of fecal waste. The company has undertaken several national key research and development projects, participated in formulating international standards that have become China's first international standard for epidemic prevention and control in the water sector, and provided mobile toilet services for multiple large-scale events and emergency scenarios.
For mobile toilet rentals, they can be placed and used on flat ground.
