Mobile Public Toilets in Shanghai
Mobile public toilets in Shanghai exhibit notable characteristics of diversity and humanization, specifically reflected in customized services, facility upgrades, social sharing, and innovative appearances.

In terms of customized services, companies such as Shanghai Guyi Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. offer large-scale public restroom customization services, with products covering prefabricated mobile toilets. These toilets can be tailored to customer needs, providing one-stop services from on-site measurement, design optimization, production and processing, transportation and installation, to after-sales maintenance. Currently, the company has supplied various products to important venues such as Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, meeting the diverse needs for mobile toilets in different scenarios.
Regarding facility upgrades, mobile public toilets in the Pudong New Area have undergone comprehensive upgrades. Seven mobile public toilets, including those on Haitong Road and Meihua Road, and Shiji Avenue and Weifang Road, have been renovated and unveiled. They not only focus on harmonious aesthetics, using soft colors like light beige and light brown as a base to blend with the surrounding environment, but also add barrier-free access and stainless steel handrails around toilets in high-traffic areas to facilitate use by special groups. The interior facilities of ordinary toilet stalls are complete, with simple and bright decorations. Additionally, “age-friendly and child-friendly toilet stalls” have been created, with electronic screens on stall doors displaying real-time usage status, enhancing the user experience. Furthermore, the mobile public toilet at the intersection of Shiji Avenue and Weifang Road has added a dedicated “sanitation workers' lounge” for sanitation workers, equipped with facilities such as refrigerators, shower rooms, microwaves, and charging ports, providing a place for rest and convenience.
In terms of social sharing, Shanghai is actively promoting the sharing of social public toilets. Xuhui District took the lead in creating a shared public toilet map, incorporating 65 simple households and internal toilets of units into the sharing network, facilitating nearby toilet access for citizens. At the same time, more than 2,600 public toilets across the city provide free toilet paper, further improving the service level of public toilets.
Regarding innovative appearances, Shanghai has also seen the emergence of smart public toilets with appearances resembling small villas or cafes, equipped with digital smart hardware devices inside, which are both aesthetically pleasing and practical, becoming a beautiful scenic line in the city.
