Shanghai Container House Specifications

Admin September 15, 2026

The common specifications of container houses in Shanghai are mainly 3 meters wide × 6 meters long, with an internal clear height of about 2.6 meters and an expanded area of about 18 square meters. In addition, there are specifications such as 2.5 × 6 meters and 3 × 12 meters, as well as customized models and specifications derived from shipping containers.

I. Standard Specification: 3 meters × 6 meters

This is the most commonly used specification in construction sites, temporary living, and office scenarios in Shanghai. Its design features are as follows:

  • Spatial Adaptability: It can accommodate a double bed, a simple desk, and a standing wardrobe inside, meeting basic living needs while avoiding space wastage.
  • Transportation and Installation: It is easy to hoist and compliant with transportation regulations. After aligning the pre-embedded parts at the four corners, it is fixed with bolts. It can be powered on and ready for occupancy in half a day, with high assembly efficiency.
  • Structural Performance: The walls are made of double-layer color steel plates with rock wool in between, providing thermal insulation and moisture resistance, reducing air conditioning energy consumption in summer. The doors are made of thickened broken-bridge aluminum with double-glazed glass, offering good sound insulation. There are reserved inspection ports and exhaust vents on the top, allowing the installation of ventilation fans to improve air circulation.

II. Other Common Specifications

  • 2.5 meters × 6 meters: Suitable for scenarios with lower space requirements, such as temporary warehouses or small tool rooms.
  • 3 meters × 12 meters: Achieved by splicing two standard containers, suitable for scenarios requiring larger areas, such as temporary conference rooms or multi-person dormitories.
  • Customized Specifications: Designed according to customer needs, common sizes include 3 meters × 3 meters, 3 meters × 8 meters, and 3 meters × 9 meters. Prices vary depending on craftsmanship and technical requirements.

III. Specifications Derived from Shipping Containers

  • 20GP Standard Container: 6 meters long, 2.35 meters wide, and 2.4 meters high, with a volume of 33.2 cubic meters. It is commonly used for temporary construction site buildings or small commercial premises.
  • 40GP Flat Container: 12 meters long, 2.35 meters wide, and 2.4 meters high, with a volume of 67.7 cubic meters. It is suitable for scenarios requiring larger spaces.
  • 40HQ High Container: 12 meters long, 2.35 meters wide, and 2.7 meters high, with a volume of 76.3 cubic meters. The increased height can meet the storage needs of special equipment.
