Shanghai Container House
Shanghai industrial container houses are available for custom supply, with a range of prices, installation considerations, and existing application cases.

Supply and Customization
Many companies in Shanghai supply and customize industrial container houses. For example, Shanghai Yaotuo Container Co., Ltd. focuses on energy-storage containers, new-energy equipment boxes, and industrial containers, and can deliver non-standard custom container houses. Shanghai Huigai Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. likewise works in industrial containers and offers one-stop service from R&D, design, and production through fit-out and installation. Units can integrate water, power, heating, oil systems, and smart equipment to meet varied industrial needs and support personalized customization.
Pricing
Prices for Shanghai industrial container houses vary widely by type and specification. Prefabricated modular container offices, combined site pack-box units, and mobile container houses are priced at $62.5/month for 4 square meters; tempered-glass container mobile houses with screw-joined retail/office/sunroom and rooftop platform panel buildings are priced at $178; custom space-capsule container mobile houses, Apple-style capsule mobile stalls/kiosks, and tempered-glass panel buildings can cost as much as $22,222.
Installation Notes
- Drainage and water supply: A container is an all-steel structure. During installation, the ground should sit higher than the surroundings, and drainage ditches should be dug around the unit. In the summer rainy season, add a gable-style canopy on the roof so rainwater sheds easily. Water supply can be solved by connecting to the municipal system or adding a water tank—both may be used together.
- Thermal insulation: Containers themselves do not provide insulation. After the unit is fixed in place, add a layer of soundproofing and thermal insulation cotton, and install air conditioning to improve the indoor environment.
- Lightning protection: If a container house is installed in mountains or remote wilderness, install a lightning rod to protect occupants.
Application Case
An entrepreneurial couple combined four containers measuring three meters wide by six meters long into a two-story apartment renovation totaling 72 square meters across both floors. Before renovation, the containers lacked a kitchen and bathroom, had unclear functional zoning, poor ventilation and insulation, and no water supply or drainage piping. After renovation, these issues were resolved, providing a useful reference for industrial container-house applications.
