Self-made RV Mobile Toilet
There are mainly two feasible solutions for a self-made RV mobile toilet:

Solution 1: Extended bathroom based on the trunk of an MPV/SUV This solution utilizes the upward-flipping function of the vehicle's trunk door and its internal space to achieve bathroom functionality through structural modifications. The core principle is as follows: After the trunk door is opened, it serves as the roof of the extended space. The other three sides are enclosed with folding panels or soft barriers to form an independent space. Inside, an adjustable-height base is installed to match the height requirements of a squat toilet or a portable toilet. The key design points include:
- Heavy-duty slide rail system: High-load-bearing slide rails are used to connect the extension box to the vehicle body, ensuring smooth pushing and pulling while being able to withstand human weight. The slide rails are fixed to the vehicle body with four screws for easy and quick disassembly.
- Privacy and ventilation: The extended space is connected to the interior of the vehicle, and privacy is protected with curtains or magnetic snaps. A ventilation opening can be reserved on the top or a small exhaust fan can be installed to reduce the accumulation of odors.
- Advantages for nighttime use: There is no need to get out of the vehicle to answer the call of nature, which is especially suitable for cold or snowy weather. The portable toilet can be equipped with degradable bags for easy subsequent disposal. For this solution, it is necessary to ensure that the size of the vehicle's trunk matches. The extension box must be fully stowed inside the vehicle after folding to prevent shaking during driving.
Solution 2: Simple and portable mobile toilet Drawing on the experience of "Doudou's self-made bed car", this solution can be quickly built using low-cost materials. The core materials are plastic bags and water bottles:
- Basic structure: A large plastic bucket or a custom-made plastic box is used as the base, with a degradable collection bag placed inside. The top opening is designed to fit the user's posture, and hard cardboard or foam boards are used as barriers around it to form a simple screen.
- Sealing and leakage prevention: The mouth of the collection bag must be tightly attached to the edge of the base to prevent the spillage of excrement. The water bottle can be modified into a simple flushing device, and water can be sprayed for cleaning by squeezing it.
- Portability: The overall weight is light, and it can be disassembled and stored at any time. It is suitable for short trips or emergency use, but its privacy and comfort are relatively poor, and it needs to be operated in an open area outside the vehicle.
Selection advice: If comfort and privacy are pursued and the vehicle space allows, Solution 1 is better. If portability and low cost are emphasized, Solution 2 can be used as a temporary alternative. Before implementation, it is necessary to evaluate the vehicle structure, frequency of use, and environmental protection requirements to ensure that the solution is safe and feasible.
