Self-made Mobile Toilet Design Dimensions
The design dimensions of a self-made mobile toilet need to be determined based on the specific type and usage requirements. Common types and their dimension ranges are as follows:

1. Single-person movable restroom
This type of restroom is primarily designed for single-person use. The external dimensions are typically: length from 1 meter to 1.2 meters, width from 1 meter to 1.5 meters, and height from 2.2 meters to 2.5 meters. Adequate internal clear space should be reserved to avoid a sense of oppression for users, with a general clear length of 0.9 meters to 1.1 meters and a clear width of 0.9 meters to 1.3 meters. The design should focus on the passage space after the door is opened and the installation positions of internal equipment (such as toilets and squat pans) to ensure a reasonable range of movement for users.
2. Barrier-free movable restroom
Designed for people with mobility impairments, the internal space needs to meet the requirements for wheelchair rotation, so the dimension requirements are higher. The internal width should generally be more than 1.5 meters, and the length should be about 1.5 meters to ensure that the wheelchair can rotate freely and the user has sufficient operating space. In addition, the door width should be no less than 0.9 meters, the ground should be flat without steps, and the installation positions of internal equipment (such as handrails and low-position washbasins) should also comply with barrier-free design specifications.
3. Multi-functional combined movable restroom
This type of restroom integrates multiple functional areas (such as squat positions, sitting positions, wash areas, and management rooms), and the dimensions need to be adjusted according to the functional combination. For example, a mobile restroom with 4 squat positions and 1 wash area can have a length of up to 6 meters; if it is modified from a container, the dimensions may be larger, such as 14 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 2.8 meters high, which can accommodate more equipment or personnel. During the design process, it is necessary to balance functional requirements with space utilization to avoid overcrowding or waste.
4. Reference for standardized equipment dimensions
Some mobile restrooms adopt a modular design with fixed equipment dimensions. For example, a standard model has dimensions of 1100 millimeters (length) × 1100 millimeters (width) × 2000 millimeters (height). The internal space is compact but practical, suitable for temporary events or high-density usage scenarios. This type of design requires optimizing the equipment layout to ensure ventilation, lighting, and cleaning convenience.
Design suggestions:
- Clearly define the usage scenario (such as temporary events or long-term fixed use) and the needs of the user group (such as whether barrier-free facilities are required);
- Reserve a certain margin to avoid dimensions that are too compact affecting the user experience;
- Adjust the dimension plan according to the material characteristics (such as the load-bearing capacity of containers and the flexibility of light steel structures).
